I took Scotts lead and decided to patina the 1500...I used a liver of sulphur gel, which took only a few minutes to get a rich antique look... http://www.cooltools.us/Cool-Tools-Liver-of-Sulfur-in-Gel-Form-2oz-p/pol-802.htm Attachment: 009.JPG (Downloaded 269 times) |

I see, but you didn't use much sulphur in fact, I was expecting more tarnish old navy brass look...Anyway, it gives a good vintage appearance |

Looks good, just a little jump start to the aging process. Btw...thanks to all the photos you and Scott have been posting, I broke down and ordered my bronze 1500 this morning. |

the 1500 is actually much darker/tarnished than in the wrist shot...direct sunlight isn't the best light source to show off the nice patina...below is a pic of the watch once it comes out of the gel/water solution after about 3-5 min.,it's almost black...after washing it and hitting it with a Sunshine polishing cloth,it lightens up.I am going to do a brush effect next, this will hopefully allow me to control the dark blue/black patina to areas I want it at...the dark blue patina is very cool, and looks like gun blueing...with Scotts help I should be able to get an awesome finish. Q&D from under my desk lamp... |

Very beautiful, Oscar. I think you nailed it this time. Will the buckle blend? Last edited on Tue Aug 16th, 2011 10:12 am by bigrustypig |

TY Guys...pics don't do the finish justice imo...there are some really awesome blue and green tones in there!.in order to get this finish I used a Sunshine cloth(rouge cloth) to remove any unwantted patina, and then again with a Cape Cod cloth, paying attention to the edges that I wanted lighter, than another bath in soap and water, using a soft toothbrush..this will leave a nice even finish, without the blotchy spots all over like the bottom pic above...Jeff,my buckle was made from a different bronze, but in contrast,it matched up pretty close...I'll take some pics asap. That's awesome Oscar!!! I absolutely love the 1500 in Bronze, and as you know I'm a sucker for some nicely developed patina...very nicely done! Enjoy the chemistry experiment! |

Oscar, this looks like what Mel Gibson would wear in the movie Mad Max....and i mean it in a very nice way. This is just an amazing finish. Eager to see that buckle. |

My word, that Kasimon 1500 is incredible looking. Can't imagine having guts to let my Moray get this dark before hitting it with the polishing cloth. Last edited on Mon Jun 3rd, 2013 10:28 am by Luminated |
