OK question.....I really like the Bulova Precisionist and the way the quartz second hand moves it makes you think you have a high end auto on...Does anyone own one? I'm thinking of putting one on my Christmas list....I had one on today and it's heavy.....Any input? TIA

Don't own one Greg, but have handled a few at local stores. The have a nice heft to them and some very cool designs. I don't see any issue in owning one but I would look to get one at a good discount because resale is not very good on them. That said, since it will be a Christmas gift you will probably have it and enjoy it for years to comethumbsup.gif

Hi Gregger,

I bought one last year as my Christmas gift too - 98B142.  Since mine is on a rubber strap, it's not heavy at all and wears comfortably.  I'm assuming you handled one of the versions with metal bracelet?

For the first 2 and a half months, I wore it every other week and by the time I decided to put it away for storage, accuracy was pretty sweet at about +3 seconds off.  After storing the watch for the last 9+ months (with the crown facing down), the watch is off about +26 seconds ... not the ±10s/year that it claims unfortunately, but then again I assume that claim is based on regular wearing of the watch, or maybe placed with dial face up (I hope) ? subtlelaugh.gif

Anyway, I like the watch and think it was a good purchase.  Plus, I like it when some people seeing it for the first time think I bought another auto until I tell them it's not.

I hope your Precisionist turns out good for you too.

Seen some pics of those watches open on the net a while ago: Huge plastic ring(mvt holder) , flat battery covering the whole mvt back and nothing special to see when you uncover it.
I would just say: Don't use much money on it.
It's just fancy because the second hand isn't robotized, nothing else.
Soon all quartz will go like that: It's less stressful to look at.
The last school I was visited had big clocks with sweeping second hand as well.

Solid watch, Gregger with not so hot bracelets. Good buy at $200 and less.

I had one for a while but it wasn't a keeper for me. I agree with Pax that the bracelet was so-so and I'm not a big fan of mineral crystals.

Just wasn't feeling it so I traded it on to another home. Good luck, though, with your purchase. Hope you love it.

I bought my wife the lady's 96R154 a while back. I know you're not looking for a lady's watch, but I will say its well made, solid, has been very accurate and reliable. That should resonate across the line.
