Once again Michael of Kaventsman Uhren is creating a bronze watch for me.This one is called the Irikandji, and is an offshoot of his latest Triggerfish, and one off that he made for a Military customer in alluminum...below are pics of the build, from milling of the case, and dial from a monobloc piece of bronze...more pics to follow as the buils progresses, until it arrives on my wrist.happy guy.gif

prototyping for the new model, the Kaventsmann Irukandji, today I´ve used some CuSn8, the next days I will try out some Stainless Steel 1.4539 ( AISI 904 L), so stay tuned.

project monobloc dial, I`ll try to mill the whole dial incl. the pins for dial fixiing out of the full. First test run , aluminium, bronze and stainless steel

saturday morning in the workshop ,backside of the dial , fixing pins completely milled out of the full, it worked well

Congrats in advance: This will be one looker for sure Oscar.
I like the 45 grades oriented crown and with that milled dial, it will add some uniqueness to the piece.
This new bezel give a lighter look: Might cool your wrist as welltoon1.gif

I bet you think about it every nights before closing your eyes now: Patience grasshopper...Patience...

Yes, the dial might change a bit but will certainly stabilize fast due to lack of breathing inside the case.

Really cool Oscar...awesome case and I think the milled bronze dial is very adventurous and unique.  I like it alot! thumbsup.gif

Like Will, I'm thinking that the dial won't patina much at all from whatever state that it goes into the watch case.  I've noticed this on all of the bronze pieces I've owned as the inner case where the crystal/dial sits remains shiny and fresh while the outer case patinas nicely with the passage of time (due to natural or un-natural exposures).

My take would be to pre-patina the dial prior to final assembly of the watch (or leave it shiny if that's the look you prefer).

This is looking awesome, Oscar!
Really like the dial. Here's one similar I made. It's copper, but same idea, might give some ideas:

TY Guys, can't wait till it's on my wrist....as far as the dial showing patina over time,I have no doubt...all dials show some patina over years, and a large flat dial made out of bronze will most likely patina,....sunlight,and temperature all play a part in the patina process,it may be a slower process under a crystal,or it may not, only time will tell, but it should patina on its own.ThumbsUp02.gif
Scott that copper dial is sweet!

This might take time but it will be way worth it... Until then I'll see what you bring home and maybe make my mind on one of those Kaventsmann.

Looking great: That's without a doubt the most advanced piece from Kaventsmann...

How the heck did I miss this thread??? It's a marvelous watch, Oscar and I envy you. Looking forward to a review, when you have time. Keen on knowing about the heft, feel and presence. On the straps you posted. I think both will work well but maybe I'd spend a bit more and go full custom on a badass super-distressed tan variant. (PM sent)

Enjoy!
