I have already decided not say anything, but would like to know what other watch collectors would have done if this situation presented itself. I know someone who received a Rolex Submariner Date recently as a present. It was given to him by a parent who has not had much contact with him in a long time. He was very surprised and happy to receive such a gift. When he handed it to me to take a look at, it felt rather light and unsubstantial. Now, I do not have a Submariner. I do have the Tudor Black Bay, and while it is not even close to being a Submariner, the watch has a heft to it, a definite solid feel, this did not. My brother-in-law has a Datejust, and that has the same feel as my Tudor, it just feels solid. I did not look for the crown etching at the 6:00 position, and I did not unscrew the crown to see the crown seal. I was going to ask to see it again, but was persuaded not to by others. Did I do the right thing by keeping quiet, or should I have said something? My main reason for not saying anything was not to hurt his feelings, and it could actually be real.

the Submariner is a pretty light watch Chick,mine weighs in around 134grams and my vintage GMT Master II is only 124grams....take a pic of his watch if you can,there are quick signs to tell if it is fake or not...

I would say that most likely, it's a question of time before the guy finds out if it's a real or fake one. Maybe in a pawn shop, who knows... He will be even more deceived if he believed it to be real during years and find out that it wasn't. This is a dilemma I don't have...Why? Because all my life I saw around me small lies getting bigger over the time and people getting hurt even more afterward. You don't help anybody by hiding the truth from them in hope that it will never come up, you just loose them trust when they find out. Ask him if he wants to know: Nothing else.
