Hello, What you are looking at is a blue dial Rolex Ref. 1500 Oyster Date Perpetual from 1969. No, your eyes are not deceiving you as the emblem, indices, hands and script are in yellow gold. I do believe that this is what they call the "Gilt Dial" but don't quote me on that,as I am not sure myself. One thing I am certain, is that the Serial Number is 2903325 and after checking with the Rolex Serial Number Guide the watch was made in 1969. The watch has the original acrylic crystal, Rolex U.S.A jubilee bracelet and slight patina on the edge of the dial. Measuring 34 mm diameter excluding the crown, 41mm in length and 12 mm in thickness. It is just shy of the Oyster Date-Just Perpetual which is 36 mm in diameter, 43 mm in length and 12 mm in thickness. Not a lot of difference in terms of it's size. The Rolex Caliber 1570 that is used in this watch features full-hacking mechanism in a 26 Jewel 19,800 vibrations per hour with non-quick set date configuration. This watch was recently serviced and has the original Owner's Manual but sadly the Chronometer Certificate is missing. In terms of kick starting the watch by hand winding it. I can't because I have been wearing the watch for the past 3 weeks and crown won't move. These early Rolex Caliber 1570 are robust and very reliable, if you can live without the quick-set feature.

Another Added Bonus: The watch has been confirmed as the rare "gilt dial" by Rolex Canada earlier today.

Thank you Stew, over the past few weeks it has been mistaken for the Air-King Date Ref.5700 because of it's 34 mm size. Once I have the 1972 Rolex Ref. 1601 returned to me in September I will post that watch along the Ref. 1500. Cheers, Simon

It has appeared that I made a mistake on the Serial Number: Correct Numbers are: 2603325 (1969) and not 2903325 (1970)in which I've mentioned yesterday. Simon
