Specially at airports like Oslo: Where the shopping is limited...

Traveling for so long will make anyone bored, even me. I traveled for 2 days straight on a train. A deck of cards only lasts for a few hours. Only good thing was that i could walk around a bit and stretch my legs.

My "shortest" flight was to Moscow with Aeroflot…
The stewardesses was straight out of a Bond movie X10.

Stewardesses have a tendency to be real heart breakers. Think its in their job description. subtlelaugh.gif

Not in the US, not in France, not in Mexico, not in Scandinavia…
I know...
In Russia: It´s a must.
Now, back to the watch: How does it feel after few days with the Fortis?

Here is a short but honest review:

I used the watch everyday since Friday afternoon. Im walking around with this smooth cloth in my pocket so i can wipe the crystal down in case i get dust or fingerprints on it.

It sits very nice on my wrist. No uncomfortable feelings. (Except for my imagined fear of, "i might banging the watch against something hard every time i move" -syndrome).

I have twisted and turned the watch, looked at it from every angle. Enjoyed every second so far. Only had on little bit of let down. That is the lume, im a bit spoiled after my Armidas, Seikos and the Luminox. But i know this isn't a divers watch, so im fine with it now.

I also noticed a cool thing. When there is no reflections on the crystal, it looks like it fell out and the dial is unprotected.

Oh and before i forget. 21mm between the lugs. Who´s bright idea was that? That leaves me very limited when selecting straps. However i can opt for original straps in the future or squeeze in a 22mm nato.

In reality i have no complaints whatsoever. The dial is easy to read and so far the mov seems to be very accurate. The bezel fits perfectly, no play at all in any direction.

The bright orange secondhand is hypnotizing to follow around. Great that they did not just paint it white and been happy with it.

If i stack all the hands together, the luminous paint and the bright orange paint line up exactly edge to edge. That was a holy sh**t moment! (On my Luminox they did not even bother painting the sides black on the hands).

I wont be opening up the watch to view the movement, dont want to mess anything up by accident. I just have to google for a picture or video of it.

That raises a question that i should of probably asked before buying the watch. The Automatic Swiss movement 2836-2, 11 1/2 '''. Is that what is known as a "in-house" movement?

Good to hear Patrik!
The 2836-2 is a movement made by ETA which is owned by Swatch-Group as well as many watch brands: Breguet, Harry Winston, Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Jaquet Droz, Léon Hatot, Omega, Longines, Rado, Union Glashütte, Tissot, Balmain, Certina, Mido, Hamilton, Calvin Klein watches + jewelry, Swatch, Flik Flak.
The 2836-2 is the most used day-date movement in mid-range watches and is very sturdy.
Here´s a quick review I picked for you: The ETA 2836-2 movement is essentially the basic ETA 2824 with the addition of day-date functionality. The day change is also quicker on the Eta 2836-2, it’s considered instantaneous vs pseudo-instantaneous. The movement itself is also slightly higher due to the date wheel, than the 2824. Other than that they are very similar movements.

Interesting to hear that the lug width on this one is 21mm Patrik.

My B-42 Marinemasters are both a standard 20mm at the lugs, so it is sort of a head-scratcher as to why Fortis chose 21mm for the model that you picked up...I would have expected the case dimensions to be the same across the lineup.

But, like you said, you can try out some 22mm (or 20mm) straps to see what works best.

Thank you Will! I appreciate the help. ThumbsUp02.gif

I can confirm that the day-date change is instantaneous. At 23:55 i hear a click and it has changed over.

I think im going to measure it once again just to be sure. Third time the charm or however the saying goes.

I found this website were they make these cool Velcro straps for watches, nasa styled. Was thinking of ordering one for this watch but without text, just serialno.

Well they only sell/make them in the common widths, even though they are tailored made for your wrist. So its bothering me a bit to have 21mm between the lugs.

Guess i just have to wait until i get my hands on a Speedmaster. LOL!

No worries...yes, definitely make another measurement, especially if you're going to order a custom strap for it.

On the velcro strap front, I can definitely recommend Carl at Gas Gas Bones for your velcro strap needs (he's got several different options that fit the bill very nicely, and the quality is outstanding IMO).
