I'm a pretty big fan of the timepieces that CREPAS watches has been turning out (the Tektite and Cayman 3K are absolute crackers IMO...high quality build and great customer service has been my experience).

Crepas just announced the CREPAS L'ocean 1200m which will be a limited edition piece fully inspired by a vintage dive watch that I'm fully unfamiliar with myself...the apparently ultra rare and exotic Z.R.C 300m from the late 1960's.-----(any of you WIS here familiar with this vintage Z.R.C?) Crepas will only build as many pieces as it gets reservations for between now and January 15th 2014.

OceanicTime did a nice intro to this one today, so head over there for the details, but I thought I'd post it up to get some discussion going.

Here is the inspiration:(Z.R.C vintage ad pic borrowed from the OceanicTime writeup)

And it will be available in Blue or Black:

It's got a great vintage vibe overall IMO, that carries over to the way the crown at 6 works with that cool vintage style bracelet.

Crepas is clearly offering a piece with strong vintage inspiration, at a more modern (larger) size, built with modern/durable materials and manufacturing techniques.

I'm not fully sold on it to the point of saying, "I'm in", but I'm thinking about whether or not I want to do a reservation for this one.

What do you guys think?

Never heard of it before but I like it…
In both colors but maybe more the black.
References for french diver watches are usually Yema or Lip(which had a collaboration with BlancPain on the 50 Fathoms) and I never heard of Z.R.C.
But there is a lot of disappeared brands from the french/swiss border.
I´m not into Crepas: Too bad that Helberg didn´t hit this one, I might have given a try…
But now I stay away from watches with chinese parts, mounting, control.
Thanks for the post Chris!

It seems like the crown position will be the deciding factor for most people. It sounds like they'll be making a strap adapter, like the Kazimon, but with a cut out for the crown.

Other than that it looks great

Very interesting design. I very much like the hand set they are using. I would love to see a prototype on a wrist shot

Thanks for the replies guys.

Will - I hear you on the chinese parts, assembly, and QC...but, I put the Tektite or Cayman 3K in your hands, have you inspect from top to bottom...inspect the fit/finish (open her up... the whole thing), and I guarantee you will be giving them a thumbs up...that's all, I'm just sayin'. But I do get your point...there are a ton of pieces being bought out there (big brands and micros alike), with no idea of chinese content somewhere in the chain.

Tony & pbj - Agree on the crown position, (and that was my initial reaction too), but the more I think about it, the more I think it will be a non-issue. Certainly a Bullhead model at 12 o'clock usually includes a case design that makes the crown very accessible at all times. I sort of liken the crown design to my one-and-only crown at 6 Anonimo Militare. You are not going to make any time/winding adjustments with the watch on your wrist...you set the time, wind the watch, push the crown in, and then put it on your wrist, just like every single mechanical timepiece you wear. If someone is adjusting/winding any watch on the wrist, they are just asking for trouble and risking getting arm hairs hung up in the crown/winding assembly. So, all that said (and sorry for the long winded reply), I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with the crown configuration.

Here's a pic of my Militare:

Joe - I agree, very cool and unique handset on this one!

I still don't know if I'm reservation material though...still thinking on this one.
