In 26.5hours we will have a new yearThought i would summarize how my year of 2013 has been watch wise. (Note that im not 100% sure of the dates).

January started with keeping my eyes open for a replacement for my Seiko. I had no luck in the beginning, but at the end of the month i bought a Citizen Promaster ECO-Drive Nighthawk (PVD treated one).

It has a great aviator style dial. The bezels sits on the inside and is turned by a separate "crown". I got my hands on the Euro/Jap version, which is harder to find for some reason unknown to me.

By this time i have also started to save extra money for my holy grail. Was thinking that in 2-3 years time i will be able to afford a new one. But i want to enjoy myself on the way , so i had two accounts for my hobby that had taken a strong hold of me. One for trying out and buying watches whenever i found something that appealed to me. The second was - Do Not Touch!!!

I have to admit that some big sacrifises have been done, or it would not work. One thing was that i quit smoking back in 2009. Now i was not the heaviest smoker but if i calculated right. Then smoking coast me a holy grail each year!

Anyway, lets get back on track....Next watch was a Torgoen T16. I loved the dial and the hands on this watch. I placed an order in February hoping to receive it after a week. Later i got a email from the Swedish AD telling me that they are out of stock and i will have to wait for the new shipment.

As March arrived, so did my T16. It had a nice look and i was happy, until i tried it on. The lugs were longer then the width of my wrist. I take the blame, i could of asked first
about its measurements before placing an order.

No harm done really. This first watch account is made for just this. Experimenting and fun. We are not talking about any huge sums, despite my monk styled living.

April went by with a swish and during May the summer started to slowly awaken. By pure chance i saw an add that a guy was selling an Armida A4. Damn, that was a hot watch in my eyes. It filled a category of a certain style of watch i always wanted, but never able to find earlier. Chunky, fat, heavy, stylish and with a water resistant that made one blush as a non diver.

After i emailed Armida with a few questions,
the deal was made the next day. Not long after i received the watch, i sold my Citizen Nighthawk. The A4 sat on my wrist most of the time during the summer.

The Armida was in great shape when i received it. The previous owner, a real diver. Had used it only when diving. So i can actually say that my Armida A4 has been to depths that i will never see. Especially when my diving skills only went as deep as 2-3meters when snorkeling a few years ago.

This watch grew hugely on me. So far it was the years best buy. The quality is superb. I am now comparing it with the watches i had in my collection so far.

Im am also officially lurking at 3T during this period. But as you can see i joined up as a member in August. This month i was looking for a present for my younger brother. He is not a big fan of watches but in the end i managed to convince him that a watch is more than just a tool for telling time. I bought a Casio G-Shock and i let him borrow it for a few days.

Slowly he accepted that it was not such a dumb idea to wear a watch after all. So we ended up discussing what type of watch he would like to have. We did not really decided on a type or brand, but i told him that for his birthday i will buy him a watch of his own choice, but it cant cost more then bla bla bla.

This is how I ended up buying a Citizen ECO-Drive Proximety. However i also gave him the G-Shock. Now he went from zero to owning 2 watches. Today when we speak about watches its mostly about what his third watch might be. But that one he will have to pay for himself. LOL!

Between August and October, i traded my Torgoen T16 for a Glycine Combat 6. I mentioned this in a post that my father fell in love with the Glycine. So i ended up giving it to him as a gift.

Not long after, i stumbled across another add. But this time it was an Armida A2 for sale. Yup, i bought it. Armida has grown on me so much that i really wanted a lighter and a different model.

I also had my mind set on a A1 in bronze, which i planned to order at the end of December. Around the time im writing this.

I dont know if its karma or just pure luck. But the week before Christmas i was offerd a deal on my holy grail. It was not a new one as i had planned. It was however in great shape and it was recently fully serviced.

With the money combined from my first and second account, i would be able to buy my grail this year. It was not an easy decision. I took two days to think about it. There is a saying, Who dares wins, the S.A.S. motto. So i took the plunge.

The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch was the last watch i bought this year, not the Armida A1 Bronze as i had planned. But since the Omega is my holy grail im not lying sleepless over it. There is still 365 days left of 2014.
