UNBELIEVABLE!...What next?mistake.gif

I do not know if I should laugh or cry.....these people actually started a Kickstarter-project to develop the world's first "authorized" replica watches.....Apparently ROLEX has given them permission to butcher their Submariner into an "original" Royal Custom Watches (do you believe this)...oh wait,it gets even better because, and I quote, "Royal Custom Watches are dramatically enhanced Rolex watches for the purpose of improved durability, functionality, and aesthetic design.". Great relief to read that they are not just copying Rolex, but also improving it!
How they do that? I quote again.....
"In Royal Custom Watches, all of the external original Rolex components are removed and replaced with Royal Custom components (most of which are precious metal) so that the original Rolex components are not changed, damaged, nor altered. The perfect Rolex dial remains unchanged and is replaced with a dial made from platinum. So with a Royal Custom Timepiece, you are practically getting two watches - an original Rolex perfectly preserved and the upgraded, precious metal Royal Custom version housing the original Rolex movement. It is an original concept... a paradigm shift in the industry of Rolex modification.

The process is this: Royal Custom purchases a new Rolex watch and then disassembles the watch leaving the movement in tact for use in the Royal Custom Watch. The original Rolex components are then hermetically sealed into the client's display box for perfect preservation and ensured future value. They cannot become worn or damaged when sealed in the box, and they have not been modified. The hermetically sealed components can be used at any point in the future to convert the Royal Custom back into a completely 100% original, undamaged, unworn Rolex timepiece. Royal Custom is happy to reverse convert a client's Royal Custom enhanced Rolex back into its completely 100% original, unaltered Rolex status."
And all that for a price between $200,- and $350,-. Only odd thing is that they do mention that your "original" Royal Custom watch comes with an Asian movement or, when you opt for the $350,- option, a Swiss 2836 movement.......
Dear Royal Custom Watches, I'll take 100 Rolex Submariners for $350,- a piece. Please do not go through the trouble of making it a Royal Custom, but instead just send me the 100% original and unaltered Rolex straight to me. Of course I do expect an appropriate discount for all the trouble I save you.....
On a side note; they also operate the Facebook page Royal Custom Wacthes which has strangely a lot of likes from people with exquisite taste in real watches, including myself. I know for sure that I have never liked this page and I expect that people like Geo Cramer, Gerard Nijenbrinks, Jonathan Kopp, Roberta Naas, Randy Torres, Robert-Jan Broer, Clarence Andrew Thompson, Ben Alon Ben Joseph, Andreas S. Gregoriades, Alan C Bloore, Angus Davies, Ariel Adams, Bart Grönefeld, Benjamin Clymer, Frank Geelen, Hororgasm Tan, Ian Skellern, and many more, did neither. Just so you know, since I couldn't fight the urge to hit the "unlike"-button and I can image neither can you!

F'in ridiculous.
As I say with a wry smile quite often to people who just don't get it and who want to take a path so stupid: "good luck with that..".
An "unlike" from me is on its way for these blockheads.
Rolex-authorised? Is there someone called Rolex out there?

I think your friend is a bit confused. They were not given permission by Rolex. They're not affiliated with Rolex in any way. It's in their text somewhere too. It's only "authorized" because they don't use copyrighted text anywhere or some bullshit like that.

What you're getting for 200$ - 350$ is a replica of their upgraded Rolexs. To get an upgraded Rolex, you have to cut off your arms and legs, sell them for X0000$ - forgot the price - , and buy one.

Even more stupid.

Welcome aboard Steve Smart...no confusion, this was sarcasm as written by my friend Martin on FB...simply pointing out that this company Royal Custom was trying to fool unknowing watch enthusiasts into believing they were authorized to replicate Rolex(even make them better lol)...it was simple for all of us to see they were cheap replicas by following the link:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/royalcustom/worlds-first-authorized-replica-watches
furthermore Royal Custom somehow was showing some well know collectors, magazine publishers and bloggers unbeknownst to them as "friends" on their FB page in what might have been an attempt to make RC look legit!
