So far, I have NO PROBLEMS with Firefox! It is VERY good compared to other well known broswer such as Internet Explorer 6&7, Opera, Netscape....etc. I never heard of Safari!:P

Ok for Michael, you visit dealmac.com and can't open with Firefox?!?! I just went them and no problem at all!!! I even copied a screenshot of it. Please refer to the pic below.

Now for those new to Firefox,.....Firefox might not be able to open some sites in the BEGINNIG due to lack of plug-ins. But there is always a prompt on top of your Firefox page that you are unable to see the site. All you have to do it to download the plug-ins.  It is a straight forward procedures and just follow the instructions.

However, I myself had some problems that I could not downlaod the plug-ins straight forward. BUT......there is always an alternate option in which you can download the plug-ins MANUALLY!!! With this option, I never failed to download the necessary plug-ins and hence I can see all the sites I supposed(as I did not come across a site that my Firefox browser can see.

As for Windows Updates, one can only use IE 6 or 7! So I only use my IE7 for Windows Update purpose.

So far I find the features on Firefox that I like and IE 7 does not have:

1. For image's URL address, for e.g, if you do a right click, there is an option in Firefox that allows you to "COPY IMAGE LOCATION".
For IE 7, you have to do a right click and go to "properties" of the Image. Then it opens up another small window, you have to highlight the image's URL address from there, then click "COPY". Hence extra steps.

2. At Firefox URL box/bar at the top of the page, you DO NOT have type "http://www.timetechtalk.com" to come to 3T for e.g. All you have to do is type "timetechtalk" and it will bring you to 3T too. In other words, if you know the URL site's address is "http://www.xxxxxxxxx.com", all you need to do is just to type name in the Firefox URL box/bar. IE 7 does not have that.

3. There is a Download Manager in Firefox. If you downloaded or saved any images/software/ or anything into your PC, you do not have to go to your folder to retrieve it if you want a quick opening of the latest stuff you just downloaded. All you need to do is to go to "tools" and "Options", and then "Downlaod History" and then "View download history".  IE does not have download manager.

4. Yet to find out! :P

Jacky,

Safari is a Mac browser included in with their OS10. And, for dealmac.com and Firefox, its not the site that won't open and display it is when you click on an offer link on the page. I get a blank page - everytime. In Safari, I get see the offer, etc. (i.e. the link works). Remember too, that you are using Firefox on a PC and I use it on a Mac.

I can't believe what I am reading......................it's like an advertisement for IE7........it has most of the user frinedly features that Firefox has (I don't know from safari) without blank pages, plug-ins, fixes, work-arounds.

Jacky, I don't know about your other points as I have fooled around with it long enough, but you are wrong about this:

"2. IE 7 does not have that."

Even IE6 had the capability of entering the simple website name (ie: timetechtalk) in the address bar and hitting "Ctrl/Enter", bringing you directly to the site without having to type the http://www.timetechtalk.comYou don't even need a special URL box!!!

So could be with a little more investigation with an "open mind", one might find improvement........perhaps not.  I, for one, did try Firefox at the suggestion of several people.  I found it to be a nightmare both when it was installed and I was trying to use it, and with the "linking" problems it left me with after it was uninstalled.

I know there is a distaste for little Billy Gates out there, but............you have to admit that the program MS writes to work with their Operating Systems work much better than the 3rd party "improvements".............and besides, when the demand is high enough, Billy buys or steals the ideas and puts them into his programs! :P

Jacky,

I'll ignore the PC Power comment, etc. and just explain that I solved my problem with Firefox. For whatever reason, when I clicked on update in my Firefox preferences it said none available.

So, I went to the site directly. And, sure enough there was a MAJOR update available for my MAC Operating System. So, I downloaded it and it installed in three seconds (really). Now, all of my problems are fixed. Its much faster too. No more blank pages.

I will check manually now for updates and not rely on the auto-update feature. It is a great browser. Works like a champ now!

I've got no problem with Bill.  If it weren't for Bill we wouldn't have had a affordable pc.  The open source folks can say what thye want.  There would not have been mass appeal if it weren't for a entrepeneur like Gates.   So I'll give the man the credit he deserves.  As a matter of fact, I , personally don't care for Jobs.  I would even say I have more disdain for him then Gates.  However, he offers a product that is inferior but did such a great job in marketing that he is on top.  Lalo?  The tide is changing and Apple is becoming a force.  They did it a strange way.  But they are cutting into the market.  Plus the hardware is becoming more and more reasonable.  You know they are making headway when people are trying to sue left and right.
