Hi 3Ters

I have been on the list for a few weeks now and thought it was about time (!) I introduced myself. I am an oldie at 49, I live in Perth, Western Australia, and my time is roughly 8 to 16 hours ahead of yours, so you usually post your watches for sale when I am asleep - and they are sold by the time I wake up! have been into watches since I was about 15 when I first bought a Universal Geneve day/date/month/moon chrono (which I subsequently lost in a house move!) and the passion hasn't stopped.

Nowadays, I have a Pam GMT, a couple of Rolexes (Daytona and Explorer) that get used, and several others that because of changing tastes over the years, see little wrist time. Just can't let them go.

Because of your list, I am now an Orsa convert, and I am (hopefully) on the list for blue Monstrum. As SeaAnglers come about on the pre-owned list, I will be looking at those too. Would sure like to see them on bracelets, though.

The list has answered many questions for me - and it is more fun and informative than anything I have participated in before. Cheers to you all and thanks for putting up with my posts - IanM

Welcome aboard IanM...  good to have you posting with us... (and, uh, being almost 49 myself, I don't consider oursvelves 'oldies' - their are plenty here older than us, believe me   )...

Hi srh_pres

Thanks for that!

I know that some of the 3T members have a few less years on us (some have more? ), but if patience and persistence count for anything...

I look forward to much more interaction on the site - it is fun and there are some very interesting watches you guys have over there that I never see here. The list members' knowledge of the topic and of their specific watches is refreshing - because you guys walk the walk.

Thanks again for the welcome!

Hey skipdawg

You're right. Maybe I am just 30 with a few years of experience?

Age doesn't mean much when the passion is still there - does it?

Your comment rings true, though - there is so much happening on the site that it is almost like a full-time job!

3T already has contributors from around the world - I am very happy to be a new one of them, mixing thoughts with like-minded watch-o-philes.

And the welcome from you guys has made it even better for me.

Thanks!

Hi Scuba Steve

I look forward to more posts to and from as well.

I have lived in New York (Queens - 4 months), California (Redondo Beach - 6 months) and Houston (just over 18 months) but I have only ever visited the state of Louisiana for a few days at a time - I still found it to be a beautiful place. You are a lucky man...

Thanks for the welcome, I really appreciate it!

Welcome Aboard!

I have some customers in Australia that I often talk to on the phone. Quite surreal. It'll be 7pm my time and when I call they'll be up the next morning having coffee!!!

James, "Pam" is the nickname for Panerai watches.

Hi Marc

I have looked at the Island Watch site and you have some great buys there. One of the reasons Aussies deal with your company is the strength of the Australian dollar. We have been at about 70cents US for a long time - at the moment it is at 83cents.

The other reason is that there are so many more good natured, educated adn interested watch freaks in the US than they are here - at least in my experience. And that is a good thing!

I will keep an eye on IW and will be more active in future getting my collection sorted.

Cheers, Marc and thanks for the welcome!

Hi James

Scuba Steve is right - PAM is a nickname for Panerai watches, but it is also part of the model number. Mine is a PAM 063, that dates it as a year 2001 GMT in stainless steel with a Panerai leather strap. It is an absolute tool - and because I travel frequently, the GMT function is actually used! The leather strap was uncomfortable because it caught the hair on my wrist, so I changed it for a stainless steel deployant from the factory. Looks terrific. But being in Australia - less than point 00000000001 percent of people know what it is.

I would like to post a picture here, but tI ried to lift one on my desktop and paste it into the message. Any gurus know how I can do it - the icon in the message reply box wants me to list an http:// address. Not sure how...

And of course, Pam is still a girl's name!

Have a great day, James and I look forward to chatting more in future.

Ian

Hey Marc

It is twilight zone here compared to there, isn't it. Yes - it has just turned 11-30am here in Perth on Wednesday 15th August. It is the middle of winter here. It is raining intermittently and the temp is about 17 degrees C today. Not a bad day ahead, but some warmer weather would be nice.

I hope the weak USD gives you some more work - you service the horological community and you deserve it cos you are much more than just another retailer. Over time - people recognise quality companies for what they are.

All the fuss in our financial markets seems to be in reaction to the problems with the US sub-prime mortgage market - it has made the rest of the world a bit jittery.

Anyway, have a good rest - we will probably swap stories again (your) tomorrow. Oh and when you wake up - I will probably still be working...

Cheers!  Ian

Hi oagaspar

What a welcome this site has given me! It has been fantastic.

I have read your posts with a lot of interest, and I hope to be a better citizen on the site by buying and interacting more in future. As a recent Orsa convert - and hopefully on the list for the Sept/Oct release of the blue Monstrum - I am in watchlover heaven here on 3T. Pity I snoozed and lost on the black 3T SeaAngler that you guys have had such a blast with. I remember seeing a watch-box shot of your SeaAnglers in a photo you posted a while back - that was just cruel! I will not snooze again...

We really are "down under" here in Australia, aren't we? But only in comparison to you guys "up over" there!

Thanks for the message!
