I'm interested in the 1047W which I have to think is the same basic watch but with a different dial. How are you enjoying the 1048W? How would you compare Thunderbirds/Riedenschild with Seikos of the same price? How is the bracelet? SS? or folded? Screws or pin? Hollow or solid end links? Is the strap of good quality? Thanks for the info. I'm ready to pull the trigger on this but you know how it is with web-purchases. It's tough to make a decision if you don't see it in person.

Welcome aboard 3T o... this one was my first white dial watch, and it has a very good fit and finish. Nice weight and wrist presence too. The bracelet had solid end links, with pins for link removal. The strap is thick, but the color was a little light for me so I switched it to the ss bracelet. Hard to compare these to the Seikos - but for the same price point, I go Seiko for divers and tbird/ried for other styles... post pics if you pull that trigger... ;) ocramida wrote: I'm interested in the 1047W which I have to think is the same basic watch but with a different dial. srh pres On the 1049? How do you rotate the 2nd time zone? Some watches have a extra knob to turn it. I don't see one here though. I'm guessing you grab hold of the scalloped bezel and turn it. Does it "click" or is it simply friction? Does it seem like using the 2nd timezone will loosen the bezel? Thanks

The bezel moves smoothly, no clicks, and stays in place without loosening - you can use the 1-12 markings on the bezel for the 2nd time zone by rotating it as u indicated. It also has a 24hr subdial, but it is slaved to the hour hand. ocramida wrote: srh pres

Thank you for the feedback. I'm a bit concerned about durability. I don't "baby" my watches and want tomake sure the 1049 can handle everyday life :-) Do you know if Riedenschild builds the Thuderbird products in the sme way they build the name brand products? I've always purchased seikos and other well-known brands and am a littel bit gun shy about pulling the trigger on the Thunderbird. Thanks again for all your feedback

No problem... I havent worn it as a daily wearer, so not sure of the durability, but it does seem to have the same quality of build as the Riedenschilds. Perhaps Marc at IW can comment on how they 'stand up' to daily use if he has had any customer feedback... ocramida wrote: Thank you for the feedback. I'm a bit concerned about durability.
