I finally broke down and bought me a new ride today. I am now officially a Yuppie as I now drive an SUV that isn't a Jeep. Got rid of the old Malibu and got me a 2007 Dodge Durango. Still got the old Jeep though. hand6.gif

No, but my 99 Jeep had a Snorkel kit on it.

Hey Scuba Steve

Very pretty, and TOUGH, too!

Now - just gotta figure out how to put that Viper motor in there...

Enjoy your ride!

I wanted the Hemi V-8 but couldn't find one anywhere. I still got a V-8 though. Still should be able to comfortably pull my Jeep on the trailer to off road parks.

You'd like Australia, Steve, because America is just like Australia, but on steriods!

V8s did, do, and will forever have a big place on my everyday driver list, and on my wish list, too. I have had cars with 4 cylinders (with and without a turbo), straight sixes,  and 12 cylinder oddities from around the globe, and all I can say is that there is nothing to match the V8. I have had many cars, but having actually experienced living with them day to day, it has cured me of ever wanting a highly stressed smaller motor.

Just look at what Audi has produced in the RS4, and what BMW have just done to the M3 (I have driven the new one here and my suggestion is to wait for the CSL variation). Love the way a V8 is so effortless whilst sounding so urgent. It is one of the reasons why I like the prospect of one day getting my hands on a ShelbyGT500KR - but that will be the Sunday car.

I do a little bit of targa (street course) racing here in Western Australia - but only occasionally. I know what it costs... so sometimes it is more fun to watch other people burn their money.

We get the Viper here, the Challenger, the Charger (soon) and the Nitro. All pretty good looking cars and tough rides. It looks as if the Chrysler people here are going to be the ones selling the Dodges, too. You might be interested to know that the Chrysler 300C is very popular here, too. The SRT8 outsells the standard car. US cars have developed a fairly strong foothold here. Australian Design Rules kill many sales, though. A fully certified 2007 Mustang sells here for $130,000AUD. At todays rate that is around $100,000USD. Crazy. Oh - and the GT500KR looks like it will be about $190,000USD here. Yes, that is almost 200 big ones. Much better to relocate to the USA, and buy one with real dollars rather than South Pacific pesos!

That Dodge of yours looks sweet and I hope it gives you a ton of pleasure.

Have a terrific day!

IanM
