Greetings! My name is Kyle and i am seeking some input. I love watches, plain and simple. I have an Omega Seamaster, which i love. But i now have a job that requires me to be on the water and beach alot, and i want a little bit less expensive wrist piece to wear in those conditions.
Ive owned a few Seikos and citizens and been pretty pleased with them for wear and tear watches.
I recently came across orient, Ive read the history about them being part of seiko, etc. I guess the short and sweet is I would like some input these watches.
Thanks in advance!
Kyle

Hey, Kyle...WELCOME!

I'm more into vintage watches these days, but I can assure you these guys will give you some expert recommendations for affordable watches around the water, including the brands you mentioned.

What's your upper budget?

Hello Kyle and welcome to 3T. The Seamaster is a great watch and I can understand your need for a beater. As you mentioned the big Japanes brands, here are a few examples of inexpensive but imho robust watches:

Seiko Monster. Available in orange and black and other more exotic colors ($$). A staple of any WIS' collection.

Citizen NY0040-09W. Available in less garish color combos.

And the Orient Sub commonly referred to as the "Mako".

Just a few quick options... Check the IW link at the left of the forum and you'll be directed to Island Watch which is run by our good friend Marc Frankel. I believe he can get these with the exception of the Citizen... but I wouldn't put it past him!! Looking forward to seeing where you go... there are a lot of options...

If I may, don't forget the Bernhardt Sea Shark...you get a lot of watch for the money.

That's a great suggestion, Erik... which leads me to suggest the Orsa Monstrum... if you dare. I might also suggest the Shnoop deal Accutron VX200 though it really isn't a beater imo... but it could be used as one for the price! Of course that depends on its return...

Welcome to 3T Kyle!  Great suggests you've got here so far!  Personally, for your particular situation, I'd go with the Monster!  Let us know what you decide!

Wow, thanks for all the input and welcomes guys!

I am kinda leaning toward the orient... pobally because the resemblance to the Submariner... i love that classic "dive watch" style.

I am leaning toward the rubber band, but i just dont like the dolphin's on the wrist band! lol. I guess i could always change out the band?

How often does IW discount his products? I was looking through history and had seen where he had offered the Orients for 99 with free shipping. And if that was the case, id probally have one en route right now!

Thanks again!

Kyle

Edit: where can i find these Orsa's!!!! I am thinking i might have to buy two new watches now.... lol

Ya, i was a litle bummed i missed the acutron deal. i have just recently discovered Woot.com, and even more recently discovered schnoop.com

I think i am going to try and get an orient here in the next few days just to wear for my orginal plan, mostly to work/play in. And after spending my entire morning here at work looking at everyones watches, i think i have decieded I am going to keepo my eyes open for either another accutron or a maybe a Orsa. Orsa is a totally new brand to me, i actully thought it was a Oris typo the first time i saw it here on the forum. So i am going to do a little research on the brand and keep my eyes open, because i have totally fell in love with the look and style of them!
