Fransico Pipin Ferreras...world free diving champion, the movie the Big Blue is some what based on his life.  The watch is a commemorative Limited Edition for his historic FD in the Cayman Islands...not sure the LE number but considered rare.  Comes in a nice package too....

Perhaps Seiko should re-issue the design - they have a similar kinetic diver. As for Francisco Pipin; he is Cuban - hasta la victoria siempre...

The film 'Le grand bleu' was based on the rivalry between Italian Enzo Majorca and French Jacques Mayol, two of the greatest free diving champions in the 1970's. Sector watches, meanwhile, has made a special edition of one of its divers in honor of Umberto Pellizzari, who has won several world championships in various free diving events.

oagaspar wrote: Great looking watch and there were many Pipins around some years ago like Tony said...wish I would have snagged one then!mistake.gif...only exception is it uses Seikos outdated 5M45 Kinetic capacitor(this watch is about 10 years old) but I believe it can be upgraded to the new 5M65 which would give it more power reservehand6.gif Roachman.com had some Seiko Pipins FS but not sure if any are leftwatch2.gif
Roachman is out of Pipins, but I have one lined upcat28.gif(time to get the cash), the capacitor can be upgraded and it sounds like that is the norm.

The case is the same; perhaps there was a whole line of Pellizzari watches - there are videos on You Tube of one of his record attempts off the coast of Capri, all of which sponsored by Sector. The one on sale on E-bay appears to have a depth meter also.
