Most of my collection of watches are mechanical, and I have just bought a J-SAR, which other then my G-Shock, which is solar, is my only other quartz watch; so my question for you is; when not wearing a quartz watch, do you leave it running, or is it advisable/recommended to pull the crown out to save the battery?

Also, does anyone now how long the battery should last on the SAR watches.  I looked on the web but found nothing.  Thanks all.  John

I always leave my few quartz watches running. One of the purposes of me buying a quartz was so I didn't have to set the time at all, just maybe the date.

My TSAR battery lasted about three years before it needed to be changed.

I say leave it running. A watch battery is $5 to $10. It should last anywhere from two to five years. Some last even longer. The major reason for owning the quartz is being able to pick it up, put it on and go. No need to fuss with setting, winding, etc.

So, for $10 every 3 years let it run :D:D:D

You know, that's a really good question.  I can understand the reasoning of the folks who will tell you why bother worrying over a cheap battery, but my concern would be either me damaging the caseback gasket or the guy at the watch repair place when it was tme for a new one.  I've had some bad experiences with local watch repair guys.
