I hope I'm not breaking any of the forum rules by opening this topic here, if I am please don't hold it against me as I'm totally new to this forum.

I can't make my mind up between these 3 great timepieces:

OMEGA SEAMASTER PLANET OCEAN BIG SIZE
http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=931&details=1&ref=29005091&no_cache=1

TAG HEUER CARRERA AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH TACHYMETRE
http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collection/carrera/men/automatic-chronograph-tachymetre/index.lbl?w=CV2010.BA0786

BAUME & MERCIER RIVIERA XXL
http://www.baume-et-mercier.com/collection/collection.aspx?ln=en&id_collection=16&id_product=76

I know that many of you (if not all) know A LOT about watches so I am asking you to help me choose by voting for one of these!

Thanks! :)

I vote for the Omega, I don't even have to think about it.
The Tag is a really nice timepiece and they have improved on the quality and fit and finish a lot in the last few of years but the O remains constant and unwavering and looks to stay that way.

just my half cent from the resident halfwit!

You can't go wrong with the Omega, although The PO big size may be a little big for my tastes. The other two are really nice pieces also. The best thing I've found to do when debating about a watch, is to go look at it in person, if possible. Otherwise try to do a photo comparison as best as you can. If you look at all 3 long enough, one will 'speak' to you louder than the others.

Doc if it were me choosing to buy between those 3 I would also go with the Omega. I just like the look far better than the other 2. ;)

Well, TBH the Planet Ocean is a favourite of mine too!

The one thing that bothers me about it is the Anti reflective coating that Omega decided to apply on the outside of the saphire crystal (aswell as the inside) so, although the saphire is scratch-proof, the AR coating isn't and that's a big mistake (at least in my book) because when you pay 3000$ + for a watch you don't want any scratches on it.

That's the only problem with the Omega, If only there was somekind of a solution...

There is a solution. Buy it and scratches be damned. If you work with your hands, don't wear it to work. I don't wear my SMP to work just to limit the damage that could potentially be done. Every watch that gets worn is going to get knocks and dings eventually. My SMP did. That AR coating is probably tougher than you think.

Omega is in the lead, well, it seems that it's no contest at all!

Well, I guess if it's good enough for James Bond it has to be good enough for me! Thumbsup3.gif

Scratching the AR isn't really a big deal either, once you put a couple of scratches on it the rest can be easily removed.

Another vote for the Omega PO but I would go see one in person first as mentioned.
The 45mm is one big watch but it also comes in 42mm.
