I have several watches that could use a good "lume job" and maybe custom hands, (would that be called a "hand job"? ...I digress).

I've seen some custom Seiko Divers floating around, and the Mark II website is great with all the "build it your way" options they have, but I'm look'n to get watches I already own upgraded or customized.

I know nothing about after-market options and custom watch work, so any info would be appreciated.

Thanks! --JD

While I have never had any work done by him, according to posts I've seen, Bob Thayer is very good.

I've never had custom work done by Bob but have bought a watch from him and he was great to deal with. Bob's a good guy.

Duarte at "North East Watch Works" does very nice work. He does not do re-lume, but all kinds of mods, dial swap, hands, bezel & chapter rings, xtals etc. w/ pressure test. He is one of the "Master Blasters", when it comes to "bead blasting". Applys a very nice finish.

A few of mine:

Alba-Bead Blasted and swapped in Seiko Ti Samurai hands!!!!!

Orsa Caribbean Blue "Pro Diver" "Bead Blasted" !!!!

Lots of work on this one: SKX007 "aluminum oxide blasted", Bill Yao dial & hands & bezel insert, sapphire xtal, black date wheel, yellow chapter ring. All done by Duarte at NEWW!!!!
Bought this one  pre modded :-)

Good luck with your projects!

Cheers

RD

If you need a re-lume, look no further than Kent Parks at Everest Watch Works.  I've had a few things done by him and you couldn't tell the watches did not come from the factory with nuclear lume!  He is VERY, VERY good at what he does!

Aaaaah... you guys are great! This is exactly what I needed. I've got a ton of dive watches that I don't wear, which will change if I could spice them up a bit.

THANK YOU!!!

I'm having Bob spice-up a Black Monster with MK II MOD dial, aluminum chapter ring, plongeur hands and box second hand. I'll post pics as soon as it gets back to me.

Again... I thank you all for the great leads!!!
