I know Invitca is not a popular brand here at 3T. I've been looking for an automatic diver in gold but those seem to be fairly scarce. This is from Invicta's "Reserve" collection. I've read that some Invictas are better then others. I am wondering (1) if this is one of the better Invictas and (2) any recommendations for something else in gold for under $1000? Thanks for your help. 3T rocks! Certified chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute Bracelet: Gold plated stainless steel Movement: Swiss SW200 Sellita automatic 26-jewels Crystal: Sapphire Case Measurements: 44mm Water Resistance: 50 ATM – 500 meters – 1650 feet ![]()

Personally, I find the Reserve collection to be overpriced. Unfortunately, I don't really get into the all-gold look myself, so I haven't really noticed any real alternatives. Invicta is fid, usually, if you are sticking to the $500 or so and below price points. That model does look pretty sturdy, probably has a great bracelet, as Invicta typically does those right. Good luck in your search! David

Like David mentioned, you should be well served with that piece, but you need to shop the pricing and try to grab it under $600 IMHO. Not to many choices is Goldtone for divers so it might be your best bet.

I with these guys.. I wouldn't pay $1000 for that watch. The resell value on it will be next to nothing.

I think Invicta is better suited making inexpensive watches and things get kludgey when they try and reach for something "special". Like the others, I think your money is better spent elsewhere... JMHO.

I don't want to turn this in to an Invicta bashing session but I found this Better Business rating of the company very interesting. http://www.bbbsoutheastflorida.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=27002445

JBS if this is what you have your heart set on then I would search the Bay and wait, this watch is not worth $1000. Good luck to you

OK, I bought on impulse. I'm sure I'm the only one who has ever given in to temptation and Jim's silky voice! Fortunately ShopNBC is so slow in processing orders you have lots of time to cancel. :) I will keep my eyes open for this to go on sale. If it drops significantly below the $899 asking price (say $500) I might buy. The selitta movement is reasonable, it is COSC certified (which Invicta doesn't control) and it is rated at 500 meters. It is also gold tone! Just try finding a gold tone diver in any other brand. It ain't easy. Some choices in gold and silver but very few all gold tone divers out there unless you go Rolex at $5000 and above. Thanks for all the advice. You saved me from myself.

I'll be more blunt. Buy another brand, another watch in this price range. You have many choices that will serve you better. Even at $500 you can find a better investment. Last edited on Mon May 12th, 2008 12:27 am by mcwright |
