I suddenly noticed a whole bunch of asian 6497 clones in panny hommage styles for sale. All are labeled as Marina Militare on dial.  Anybody have any experience with any of these?  Many can be had for under 100 dollars including shipping.

yup found one thread but really didn't go into real depth on quality or long term impressions.  Just wanted some info on durability, fit and finish etc.

Romano, they are hit and miss, sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you dont, the sandwich dial doesnt always line up, the crown isnt always tight, the keeper doesnt hold down the crown like it should, after winding they dont hold time long, and some do. Its a crap shoot but for 100 bucks, its not a big loss at all and you get to try out the feel of a panny.

If you want a decent one, buy a International watchman brand used on the forums and that way at least your odds go up of getting a better one. probably 200-300 dollars used on forums, even cheaper, especially if I release it subtlelaugh.gif

The lume usually sucks on all of these

Hope that helps

Huck

I don't think I could have said it any better than Hucky. So far I have been pretty lucky with the inexpensive homages. You might also try Naples Watch Co. though I have no experience with their products. Anybody purchased from them?

When they first came out I tried via email and theyre response had nothing to do with my question, so I got a little frustrated and nervous and moved on.

To some of these vendors I must come across as poor and having no watch funds?

Cheers

Or I am the worst communicator around?

Could you rephrase your post? I don't understand what you're trying to say....toon1.gif

I bought one a few months back and after two days I was unable to set
the hands anymore.  It looked very cheap with the chrome finish. I refinished it to brushed and it looks much nicer. I can say that it keeps very good time though, and the seller offered to fix or replace it .
