Hi there! I know all the famous leather strap brands (Hirsch, Di-Modell, Rios, Lic, etc...), but for rubber straps I'm just lost! I only see low cost stuff, in the $10-20 range. Is there such a thing as a "high quality" rubber strap? I can clearly see the difference between a $10 and a $100 leather strap. The difference is striking : on one side there is something that feels like cardboard and is full of wrinkles and cracks after a few weeks; on the other side we have a soft, thick and resistant strap. But I haven't got enough rubber straps in my hand to notice real difference of quality. They always feel (and smell!) the same... Could you guys share your experience/knowledge? (I'm about to pay a lot for an "official" natural rubber band, I'm wondering if it worth it or not...) Thanks :)

I personally have found Rubber straps to be a hit and miss for me, some too soft, some too hard, some crack sooner than others etc... If given a choice, Id settle for the silicone rubber versions http://timefactors.com/rubber.htm

there are several e-bayers selling the Modena Italian rubber dive straps for around $15.usd that are soft, thick and high quality you may want to try and work well for daily wearhand6.gif ....unfortunately with the current Dollar exchange buying from the U.K or Europe for us in the States is pretty high but for those outside of the U.S buying here the exchange is pretty good :D personally if you are looking to match a rubber strap to a brand and it is available from the manufacturer and is a signed strap/buckle I usually go that route ;)

Thanks for the answers Hucky and Oagaspar! These Modena straps look great! I'll get myself a few of them. Hucky, thank for the link. They have nothing left in Black/24mm, but I'll check again in a few weeks... oagaspar wrote: ...unfortunately with the current Dollar exchange buying from the U.K or Europe for us in the States is pretty high but for those outside of the U.S buying here the exchange is pretty good :D Fortunately for me, the Euro is very strong. Buying stuff from UK, Japan or US is cheap. It's sometimes even cheaper than from the shop next door... go figure! oagaspar wrote: personally if you are looking to match a rubber strap to a brand and it is available from the manufacturer and is a signed strap/buckle I usually go that route ;) Yeah, you must be right. Getting the signed "official" strap is maybe the best thing to do... I'll have to pay more but I suppose I won't regret it (it's for a Glycine Lagunare, btw.).

I'd put my vote on the silicone ones as well, they seem the most comfortable on my wrist but-I've had one of those Lagunares on my wrist and I really liked that strap. I even liked the smell of it. Great solid watch with a good beefy feeling strap. Get an original one if you can. That's my vote.hand6.gif
