Those who manufacture and sell replicas are criminals. If you're OK with funding such scum who can't make it on their own design and marketing then you deserve the crap you get from them.

I'd go so far to say that if one purchases a replica, knowing full-well the illegality and the harm it does to the true trademark owner, then that person needs to look at their own character, since they are placing their own selfish desires over another's desire to have a legal business free from counterfeiters.

So if you're proudly sporting a sweet "Roli-replica" thinking you have no "obligation" to consider the damage, then don't cry if someday someone steals your identity and buys a real Rolex.

I am impressed with some of the ones I've seen, they use the same steel and a nice ETA movement.

Debaufre Ocean 1 looks pretty good too.

I would definetely put a nato strap on it if I got one of the watches.

I think he got confused there and meant homage instead of high end fake as he calls it.

No fakes!! No replicas. Homage is cool. Why is this even here?face4.gif

Fakes don't use ETA movements even if they claim to... jeez... they are fakes who are stealing a trademark... why would they be honest about anything.

NEXT!! toon1.gif

like Pax said...why is this even here! and why are we dredging up old threads...you want to buy a fake go ahead but find somewhere else to talk about it! mistake.gif

You know, I think we all jumped the gun here , including myself.  I saw the words "fake Rolex" and went from there.  After finally reading this post, I see (at least I think) SeikoDiverFan is talking about homages and not fakes/replicas.  He even mentions the Debaufre as an example of what he is talking about...so...my apologies for jumping the gun!

I think Seikofan had 2 topics: a question and opinion. But I liked the points raised by all and most especially Oscar's very helpful summaries. For one who travels a lot, all I can add is that fakes abound and they are harder and harder to tell on the surface. About 10 years ago, I could spot a fake Rolex  from about 15 feet away just by looking at the sheen on the bezel and links. Then about 4 or 5 years ago the fakes got much better. I had to actually hold one and set the time on it to find out if it were a fake. Somehow the stem of the fake would never be silky-smooth.

Experienced Customer Service people at counters of any Rolex House in a flash can spot a fake. I saw one in action a few years ago when this innocent-looking fellow turned in a Sub for cleaning only to be gently advised by the CS not to even remove his watch from his writs as it was a fake. He was politely informed he was the owner of a fake.

I will buy Omegas etc.. But I will certainly not be a watchdog for Omega. That is their battle.
