Gevril related questions.

!. When did A0111R(with fixed bezel) replace A0111?
2. The quartz/date model S0111 is not in the original
catalog of circa 1995. When was it introduced?
3. Gevril produced a CD that allowed viewing the various
combinations of bezels & side rings. Where can I get a copy?
4. Fifty Perpetual Calendar models were produced. What was the
distribution between SS/SS & gold/ solid gold?
5. Seville & Grenada are the names of two side rings. One is
smooth and one is ridged. Which is which?

Hope you can help me here. Please forward to others that
might have info. Thanks,Dicke

Hey Dicke, great questions but to be honest, personally I have no clue to the answers...I own several Gevrils and GV2's because I like them and they are a good bargain for what you get...IMO not even sure how much the history of the brand really applies to what they have today...the brand was pretty dormant for years until Sam Friedman purchased it in 2000...

TO Nabco: The Gevril brand was reintroduced in 1995 by UTime headed by
Fredy Streuli in Switzerland. These were the so called First
Generation.

Welcome Dicke...

I am a long time Gevril collector and have 21 of them from all three generations so I will try to answer your questions.

In the 1995 issue, the A0111 was the men's auto which had 2 of the 3 patents Gevril filed, as did the S0111.  In the last couple of years, Gevril, now in it's 3rd ownership (generation), re-issued several of the original watches, both the auto and the quartz (S0111).  There are two major differences. First, neither has the UCI (unlocked crown indicator) and the quality of detail in the dial is not as good as the original. I own several of each.

The CD had to do with a patent which allowed the user to change the look of the watch case. The user could interchange the inner and outer bezel, as well as the side decoration on the watch case. I have also been looking for that CD. I have the special tool kit but have never seen the CD.

Like you, I have only seen the perpetual calendar in the catalog and don't know how many if any were actually produced. (I want one too, including the day/date).

I will check my library of first generation materials and try to answer your question about the case side decoration rings. I hope I have been of some help.

Clyde

Wow, all of them? Do you have the 15 degree as well as both chronos? With the exception of the ladies models, the perpetual calender and the day/date, I own at least one of each including one mid size auto. Here's where my collection goes a little crazy, I have two copies of the Gevril book, one never opened.  From the 2nd. generation I have a tribecca and a sea cloud. I want the regulator next.  I also have a number of 3rd. generation including a Park, Anaspace, both San Benedetto styles, a classico, stadium auto and a quartz tank dress watch. In addition I have a re-issue A0111 and S0111... 21 and still counting. crap.gif

Lately, I have been picking up a few other  brands including Invicta and am waiting for my 2nd. Subaqua Noma III.

To cfoster: Yes, I have the 15 deg in both sizes and both chronos. I think the day/date is the hardest to find but I have one. Where did you find the GEVRIL books??? I also have the PARK,MADISON,LEXINGTON,GRAMERCY,CHELSEA & SOHO DELUXE.

It's great to chat with a fellow Gevril collector! dicke
