Got back! Here is where I went, I forgot my camera, so only have a few picks from my cellphone which I will post tonight. 1. Omega Boutique (Loved the people and place, no discounts, but they have nearly everything, and are super helpful. They seem to be representing the brand more than supposed to be selling a lot). hand6.gif 2. Wempe (My second favroite place, the people there were firendly and super heplful. Were very excited when I asked about their brand of watches, but they carried most high end brands. I was so impressed with their Zeitmeister that I may end up buying one - wasn't in a position to purchase anything on this trip this time... :( ). I saw my first in-person Reverso - I like the "classique" the best myself, but those were really unusual and cool dress watches, and if I am in that price range, it might be a cool splurge. cool10.gif 3. Kenjo (They were a little bit hungry for sales, but were very professional and helped make the thing fun. I got to try on a "Alaska Project" Omega there with and without the heatsink. Also saw some Azimuth watches, I am sure they are willing to deal there, and they people were super). :D 4. Tourneau (I expected them to be wonderful, but even on the Mezzanine and higher, the sales guy that helped me was belittling, and rude. Not snotty but crass. My gf was with me, and she didn't wear her watch, the guy said to me helf jokingly "you have to buy her a watch" and then as I was looking at a watch, he waves a womans watch right in fromnt of my face and said in a high pitched Julia Childs voice "Helloooo! Hellooo! Buy me!" :X :X :X - I left the floor at that point. On the main floor, I got a really good sales guy who was not that way to show me their Breiling, Bell and Ross and Rado) 5. Tiffany's Mezzanine (Patek Phillipe boutique and MUSEUM. Very very cool. See a collection of historic PP watches - as I am not a watch history expert, I didn't really know what I was seeing, but this is a definite "check out" for anyone wanting to see it but especially buffs). I got to try on a Calatrava and a Nautilus Chronograph. hearteyes.gif I was really impressed by the build quality, frankly, but for $17k and $43k respectively they aren't going to be anything but a "what if" for me. I was up front with the guy that I could not afford those watches, but he was nice enough to have me try them anyway. I asked how many they sell, and he said in a slow week it was 1 and in a busy week 5-8, and their sales hadn't really fallen much due to the recession since most of their customers were well heeled enough that they could still buy that type of watch despite the fall in stock. 6. BlancPain - They were nice and I quite liked their moon phase, but what was really the surprise is that I liked their "Aqualung" - both are above my price, but they were nice there, too. Oh, and non watch related, I did stop at the Tesla Showroom - that is a cool car, but I barely fit in it (I am 6' tall and it is a bit of gymnastics to get in and out) ![]() Last edited on Wed Aug 5th, 2009 10:29 am by Bromo33333 |

Sounds like an awesome trip! I'm both a watch junkie and a Tesla follower, so looking forward to even blurrycam pics ;) Not surprised to hear the experieince at Tourneau... I've had the same experience multiple times in different stores. I'm not really sure who their customers are, because they seem to piss everybody off! (I'm more surprised you found a second guy who was decent!) What did you think of the Omega Alaska? I've wondered what it would feel like with the red outer casing on... very funky/cool watch. C

Sounds like a nice trip and some cool visits. I had a similar experience yesterday at the Torneau in Chicago. Staff were attractive women who spent more time checking themselves in the many mirrors than actually being helpful. Once I had a salesperson it was clear she knew nothing about watches. They had an electric blue Seamaster which I figured they might like to sell since it is doing nothing but aging in their display case. The best she could do without a phone call was to offer me sales tax off!! WTF? At any rate, sounds like you saw some great sights in NYC.

It appears you had an amazing trip to NYC. I wish you all the luck you need to obtain some of the fine watches you mentioned. I would like to see your phone pictures when you get an opportunity, cheers. smile8.gif

Turns out all I have is the pics from Patek and Omega (and only the watches on my wrist! :( ) I suppose it mean I will have to go back soon to get more pictures. But yes, this is the first trip I got to go see everything I wanted to, and then some! :)
