So I have a Nalgene acrylic box that I got from my lab.  It used to contain radioactive material but has since been decommissioned. (this box probably cost $200 or more new, it can shield beta radiation)

It is 1/2in thick acrylic and I thought it was to cool to get rid of. Last night I figure out how to make it my watch display box.

I used 3/4in PVC pipe that I cut to length and then slid into a piece of foam pipe insulation. The pipe is cut 1/8in smaller then the length of the box and the foam is 1/8in larger.  Then you just slide it down and the foam compresses and holds the bar in place.

I think it looks pretty cool and for $2 bucks in material, I cant complain.

Now I just need some more watches to put in it. I have a 6.5in wrist and the watches fit perfect, but using larger PVC or foam will make it fit other diameters.

That looks great. Now get some clear acrylic sheet and cut 3 top to bottom partitions to divide the space into 4 slots, super glue them in and cut the pipe and insulation to fit that so you can remove each watch individualy without having to slide all the watches off each bar. Then buy a piece of felt scrap at a fabric store and cut to fit the bottem to prevent scratching your buckles and clasps.

That is a great looking watch box and you can't beat the price!! hand6.gif  I also really like the idea that Edgel gave you about individual compartments.  Good luck in procuring more watches to fill in the empty space.

I was going to make divided sections, but I only wear one watch (my diver graph) during the week. On weekends I only wear my MM. So access to my watches isn't a problem. Considering I can get all the plexi for free, I'm really just being lazy. I am happy to have them all out on display, maybe the other ones will enter the cycle.
