Thats a beauty, Pax. And did you get a shot of the "new style" mesh all opened up with the extension? It is a work of art. But it should be, I think it is a $500+ option... :?. Damn that Omega dial looks good...

I also noted that the watch has the word "Ploprof" engraved on the caseback. That will make it hard for the word to be used as a generic reference to any other watch of this style. Go Omega!

Thanks for sharing!

I missed the shot Ian, although the optional clasp was on the watch. Very cool diver's extension indeed!ThumbsUp02.gif

Hehe - never mind Pax. Just tell him you need to "borrow" his Ploprof for a coupla months to "research" the extension bracelet for an "article" woohoo.gif.

Is your buddy actually a watch-guy? No rudeness meant, but if it was mine it sure wouldn't have any bracelet scratches after just a week... but I also know people here who buy cars for half a million and never wash them, so it might be "just another watch" to him. What a lucky fella!

It would be interesting to predict what will happen to prices of this Omega on the secondary market, but in the interim they sure are a budget-buster at AD prices !!

Congrats again Pax - I have yet to hold one in my hands, and a bit like Graham - I am not sure I am big enough (!!) but by jingo that Omega just "has it" in a way that the imitators I am familiar with, and have actually bought, just don't IMVHO.

Nice one! I find these posts very motivating! ;)

Well Ian I am going to try and get him to lend it to me so I can take some controlled pix of it... and may be just wear it around a bit too.;) I think he trusts me enough.

And yes he is tru blue watch guy who is a dedicated surgeon which enables him to pluck tasty pieces like this and others with some regularity. He wears his watches and uses them well. I have only really seen him be careful with his JLC Reverso and his GO Panomatic. Everything else he wears though I disagree with his propensity to swim with his PAM on a nice gator!

And motivating indeed. You are so very right in saying this watch has it. There was no comparison with the 58 click homage. Everything about the watch was well put together. The crown and locking mechanism were unbelievable, bezel action smooth but purposeful, the divers extension with micro- adjustments a pleasure to operate. Very serious indeed and lume all over!!

I miss it... I'll need to over to cardiology or an OR tomorrow and see that puppy again...toon1.gif

Thanks Pax. The 58 click homage was one I owned, and I actually enjoyed THE WATCH very much. It was surprisingly well put together, a good time-keeper and sure was a good conversation starter - but to be honest I got sick to death of explaining to people what it was, and I have therefore figured out that I am not an "homage" guy. So the watch itself was not the problem - it was everything else that came with it. The new owner is a young engineer and I figure that the look and the style suit him very well - he was and is still very happy with it. I have owned the original 600m version, and I sure miss that one a lot. But then again, I made more money on that watch than on the last 10 cars I have bought and sold over the years... ;), because in 1973 when I bought it new on "sale" it was under $200 USD. How things change...

I still think the Omega case shape is iconic. Love the new color scheme, and the HE valve under the bezel lock button side is just genius. It could only have been done by Omega. I kinda figure that there will only ever be one "original" - and you do have to pay for it.

He has good taste, that surgeon mate of yours! GO, JLC, and a nice PAM to boot. But ya gotta remind him that gator skin is usually only waterproof when it is still on the gator! ;)

I look forward to any more pics you might be able to take and that you want to share. Have a good one!
