I've got to propose the Glycine Lagunare 3000. Why I like it: 1000M water resist, 316L stainless steel, 46mm, eta 2824-2, cosc cert, soft iron coated antimagnetic, lume is very evenly applied and glows better than anything short of a seiko monster, black matte face provides maximum contrast againt hands and hour marks for maximum legibility, AR coated sapphire, slight dome on crystal so strong but not so much of a dome that it's a target for unintentional strikes, lockable bezel, manual helium release, top quality italian rubber (vanilla) strap, dual oversized loops on the strap to keep it in place, cool engraving on caseback, classy mix of brushed with just touches of bling (screw ends, stem cap), threaded bars instead of springbars, safety cap on stem so you don't accidently leave stem extended and it won't unwind from rubbing against your wrist (it saved me once already), triangle lume at top is larger than the traditional dot providing better visibility hours after recharge or when under water, top shelf construction and finally, only 300 in the world. I spent hundreds of hours considering what to get on this purchase ... seriously. Could not find one new in the states and travelled to Singapore to get one ... seriously. And this watch fires on every cylinder. My wife gave me clearance to get a serious Pannie, and this watch is less expensive, more unique, and in my eyes better than the Pannies I was considering. And not being cloned by various factories in China. Same can be said as I compared to the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms ... the BFF is unique and sweet, but I would argue is too close to "tuxedo" on the tool <---> tuxedo spectrum for a real diver ... and way more expensive. Its polished, "domed" black bezel is also begging to get scratched. Similarly, I've got the Sinn U2 ... that and some of the Damaskos are among the leaders in the serious tool diver crowd. But, alas, the Glycine is a true standout ... it goes from boardroom to beach with ease and you'll be lucky to ever see another person wearing one.

Ron, you forgot that the DN's movement was regulated by Dirk Dornbleuth. And that it is resistant to mortar fragments ;)![]() For me, the ultimate dive watch is very hard to decide. I lean towards the Ploprof, as it's very tough, but in reality if I'm surviving on a desert island I'd wish I had this watch with me. It's compact, light and on the nylon/velcro strap you barely know you have anything on. ![]()
