I purchased A Big Pilot, Inner hour Dial a few months ago and it has a Swiss Fontainemelon St96-4, 17 jewels Movement in it.  All I could find on the Internet about the movement is that it's a NOS from the 60's and Azimuth is using it in some of their LE models.    If anybody knows the history behind this engine I would be happy (Simon where are you? Omegaman are you there?).

By the way, this watch is 47.6mm so let's say 48mm by about 11mm and has dome sapphire crystal.  Lume is week but ok. It's an homage to the sooooooo beautiful  Azimuth B-UHR Inner Hour dial, that will be in my collection in a short future I hope.

The reason I want to know is that I bought this watch from Samson328 (Samson watch co.) from eBay and I paid under $200 for it subtlelaugh.gif.  I think this is a great deal because it's a gorgeous timepiece and it has a Swiss movement in it.  There is one now on ebay if anybody has interest, 16h left and it's at $110 right now.

Thx guys!

Daniel

Daniel, check out the 5th post in this thread...

If I'm reading this right it sounds like this is a movement made in Switzerland and exported to China???

great looking watch and a super buy imho hand6.gif

that particular watch is made in China and although the movement may be one of the old Swiss companies that went to the wayside during the quartz revolution my findings are that it used a French ebauche and was mainly exported to China....Dr.Ranffts has the specs on the Swiss version below....

Nick, Oscar, as usual, you're a great source of information! thankyou.gif.

The watch is well built for the price even if the case is a bit rough at some places, I really enjoy it.  The movement keeps very good time at -2sec. to -4sec. a day and there is nothing like the tick-a-tick-a-tick!!! of an hand cranker.  It's loud and I love it yourock.gif.  And with sapphire, it as everything.  I particularly like the sterile dial.
