I thought I'd seen this discussed here before, but my search-fu is weak and I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. Can someone please tell me how to set this watch? I just picked one up in a trade today and neglected to ask how to set it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Oscar. Found the conversation I remembered and how to set the time, but not the GMT hand. Probably part of the same system. I'll just keep trying and looking.

The reissue? Sets like any other 2893.  Set the date and GMT in the second position. Clock-wise is for the GMT hand. Counter-clockwise for the date.:D Cool watch. You should enjoy it... I know I do mine.yourock.gif

This is a Vintage hummer from the 60s.

Thanks :). Picked up a 1983 military Hamilton in the same trade. I'll wait and see if Edgel sees and responds to this thread. If not, then I'll PM him. There's no rush to figure out the GMT hand.

Thanks MC, but this is the 214 movement that sets from a lever in the caseback. From what I can tell from the digging I've done elsewhere, the GMT hand can't be set independently and moves once around the dial every 24hrs. The bezel is how the second timezone is set. My Thanks to everyone who replied.

Sorry for just getting back on this, but I just stumbled on it. The GMT hand on the 214 does not set independantly, Murph. It just tracks with hour hand only in 24 hour mode.  The bezel is turned to indicate the second time zone. Hope that helps. Here is a picture of mine:

Thanks for the reply Edgel ThumbsUp02.gif. I figured it out by researching at other places. Yours is A LOT cleaner than mine. I've only had this since last Saturday, but like bunches and would like to make it a keeper. Do you have any recommendations for somebody to re-do the dial, hands and crystal? I've found a couple places, but would be interested in who you recommend.

I used Bassar Company [norkalus@rainierconnect.com] for the bezel and Stan there can do any mecanical work needed and Kent at Everest Watch Works relumed the dial.
