Anyone know about this brand? I think it looks pretty cool. Might even be a 7750 movement. Only review I could find. http://forumamontres.forumactif.com/revues-videos-photographies-fiches-pratiques-f2/revue-yema-flygraf-ym-757-acier-canon-de-fusil-t12560.htm Attachment: 413UWHaCrCL._SS500_.jpg (Downloaded 117 times)

Yema has a good reputation back home. Always wanted one, curious as to how much this one would run used in the US. Ping RENO on WUS, he has several if I am not mistaken.

Yema was French from 1948 to 1988 and then owned by Seiko until it was bought back by the Frenchyz in 2005. Seems to be a 7750 Valjoux from Swiss but there is no statement from where it's made...???... Offcourse... Those Flygraph was produced from 2001 to 2004(under Seiko's age). Yema was making "obscure" watches like that before and I see that they still do: I don't like obscure productions like that... My reaction on that: If you don't show your colors, you hide something darker than them. Yema would have hold them quality-standard if they would have stay in France and that's what they try to do now. The problem is that they certainly got those Flygraphs assembled in a cheap place: Guess where... And they didn't sell so good: Guess why...

Yema started to be a kind of iconic brand in diving-watches and was very recognised in France in the 70-80's but the Seiko-buy buried them. At this time everybody thought that the mechanical-watch-era was dead and Seiko was good in quartz. Maybe Seiko wanted to come closer to the European market but that wasn't the right way: Many saw it as the flagship of French-divers was tarnished. To recapitulate precisely: Yema born in 1948 in Besancon(France), in the 50's they start with antichoc, water-tight and automatic diving-watches, also chronos. In the 60's comes out the model "Superman" who's 300m deep water-tight and 1967 was the year where Yema was the most exported French watch in the world. In 1985 the second French man in space is wearing a Yema. Matra Horlogerie(French company) had bought Yema in 1982 and then sell it to Seiko in 1988: From then, the sells are falling... Yema was selling 1 million watches in the year 1980, 20 years later they sell under 100 thousands.

The Yemas with the cursive letter Y was made in France from what I know. So made before 1988.... There's a Superman and a 7730 chrono model right now on the Bay who shows it as you mean.
