The thing that throws me Gumba is the 21 jewel part:? were any 2824's made with 21 jewels? I thought the 2892 was the 21 jewel model and I find it hard to beleive they would remove 4 jewels???

There is probably an explanation...but that is weird:?

the 2824-A2 would be a eta model set up to take on a module like a Dubois Depraz 2020 chrono....the A2 after a movement # generally signifies this type of movement and it could have 21 jewels instead of 25j since adding a module will give it up to as many as 53j from my experience depending on the complication... many watches ended up using these movements due to the past shortage imhohand6.gif

When I hear about 21 jewels, I think Chinese mvt... Well, they certainly f'cked up on the listing who's not very well made actualy: They just spit every datas: ...,winding automatic mechanism jewels 21 balance Glucydur mainspring Nivarox 1 functions hours,... A bit curly this description: Specialy for the guy who don't know much about mvts... Anyway, nothing special there, this is only some taping fault and we don't care... I know some who propose the same case quality and standard from the same good Fricker, with the same mvt, same features and still at around 1/3 of price. And you know them also. There is this BAD politic in the watch world lately who is standing for "Make something of good quality that stars and heros use, when it get known, make it expensive and sell the name and exclusivity in 2/3 of the price" My opinion: We ever spoke about all of that on the forum and sincerely if you paid your Kobold over 1500buks, you been made. Kobold seems to make very good quality but like others, they want a piece of the luxury market they don't deserve because they escape the inhouse on every of them models but one: If we can call it a pure inhouse. I'm sorry to be so hard but someone with a big mouth had to say it: So throw me snow-balls with stones inside if you want, my nose was allready broken 3 times, I don't give a damn:D

in defense of Kobold I will say that they are made to live up to the hype of those who wear them and advertise them as being able to hold up to any situation....they not only look well built and tough they are imho and I am comparing Kobold to a very large pool of brands that I own and love hand6.gif ....now would I spend the $ for a new one?...I have when they were on sale under $2000.but find them overpriced for the most part and find the secondary market the best place to purchase a Kobold because of the savings and as soon as I can find a mint Spirit of America I will snatch it up..hearteyes.gif

The watch is truly a tool instrument. The 21 jewel description is a typo I knew that. What bothers me is some of these watch manufactures claim certain type of grade of movement, but when you open the case back it's a different grade. I'm not referring to Kobold. I would say yes on the Kobold, but could be wrong... I have seen some pictures of the Kobold automatic movement in the past and the majority are top grade. Finally someone made a nato strap that fits my wrist, nato strap form Howard at West coast time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Personnaly, I am not out to shoot on Kobold: As I said, quality seems to be there offcourse. The finish and adjustment case/mvt is certainly top clean but still not worth the advertising price. Now, only Kobold make those cases and YES they are lovely! But when you look at it, any good mechanic-ingenior/watch-maker guy with the right tools can make a case like that. It's a question of talent and Fricker don't got exclusivity on talent. My meaning is that you can meet all specs of Kobold: All of them even stronger, in another great watch who must sell cheaper because it don't got the "name"... A writen name is sum of calligraphic drawings who personalise an identity in a language... People like strong, cool, sweet names/synbols and sometimes, they are ready to pay for it;)

Well Johnny a big concrats on your Kobold AD and enjoy it. I just sold a Kobold LSD 4 days ago. Also Johnnny I cannot wait until you do open it up. I think you will not be disappointed. You know sometimes simplicity is at it's best. I have owned 2 Kobolds of course I flipped them...:dude: and by no means am I claiming to be a Kobold expert. Out of all the watches I have owned I would say the Kobold Seal that I sold over a yr ago keeps hauntting me (I miss it). I will say this I did buy it used and got my money back out of it. Retail price on a Kobold I agree with you guys I will not pay. The LSD was really kewl looking and I try not to think about it, but my flipper disease kicked in. when I was trying to decide which one to buy the LSD or the AD my Family picked the AD hands down over the LSD. It's kinda of funny there are several vendors recently who have purchased different Kobold cases, or going to use them. Kobold must be doing something right with their designs. Someone had to master simplicity at it's best and to me Kobold has done that, just my jmho. It should be noted I have flipped I think over 50 watches in the last 2 yrs.
