My Formex AS 6500, w/a Valjoux 7754 (GMT) movement, has been sitting idle for about a year, and now it will not wind... is this common? Any watch repair referrals or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Same thing happened on a 7751 Ball Conductor my son owns. Turned out to be dried oil residue on the escapement assembly. My watch maker cleaned it for me for $20 but said the next move is a complete clean, oil and adjustment that will run $350 on a chronograph.

Anyway, when the heart stop, you have to open the beast... My guess of uneducated WIS: If your watch was tight and not exposed to humidity, it can't be a big deal...;)
