I have posted this pilot on numerous occasions:

It is a Mercedes-Benz branded pilot style watch with a high grade Asian Unitas 6497 and sterile dial.  I really love the watch, and I've had no complaints.  The movement actually runs very well and keeps excellent time.  It is also nicely decorated.

Well, the itch started when I picked up a pristine high grade original Unitas recently, for very little money.  I knew exactly what to do with it!

Out came the Asian and in went the Unitas.

Although not as nicely decorated, I think the finish on the Unitas looks fantastic.

Lastly, the removed Asian movement. (I must say, this is one of the best I have seen)

The exchange was effortless, bar the dial feet which I had to remove to fit the new movement.

Hope you found this interesting!

Well done Graham, I would have done the same, even if I have to say that I'm more and more impressed by Chinese MOVT.  This Unitas clone looks just amazing!ThumbsUp02.gif

Yes, the first heart transplant was done in Cape Town in 1967 by Dr Christiaan Barnard.

Looking good, Graham.hand6.gif

So what will you do with the Asian? Will it fit any of your cases on standby?

Jeff, are you a mindreader too?subtlelaugh.gif
I'm contemplating putting that nicely decorated movement into one of the Parnis cheapies I have with a very bland finish - although it runs very well....
