Since I started buying watches in the sales forums, in two occasions I got deeply "smoke impregnated" boxes.

Anyone out there had the same? Does anyone care?

As there is a humidor section here, maybe non-smoking WIS are the exception and not the rule.

I have bought a few clocks which have stunk of smoke and stale smoke is not very pleasant.

I smoke; but never in the house. I can't imagine how dense it would have to be to stink up a watch box..

Bought a brand new leather strap from a brick and mortar, store that had stale smoke smell. Returned it ASAP.

Yea I run across it from time to time. I rub the boxes down with a little vanilla extract and that seem to cover the smell rather well.

I have not experienced that. However, my Rottweiler just loved the fragrant, tasty scent of my JSAR's vanilla flavored strap.

I experienced smoke sent on a strap who came on a watch. The strap was so used that I trashed it anyway...But the deal was so good that it didn't matter. For the box, the sent was light and went away: No big deal as I never use boxes...Anyway as a non smoker, the sent of cold tobaco bother meblah.gif

Maybe so: Been smoking few years in the past and smoke some cuban cigars few times in a year... Still, I hate the cold smoke smell: Specialy on my clothes after some party...
I tried the smokey strap few times but the smell bothered me each time and as it was really used, I just trashed it without hesitating...
