I have a MK II Stingray and it is a very well made timepiece. I definately feel I got my moneys worth. I too have looked at the Vantage and like the design. I did as Ken suggested and picked up a Miyota powered Zeno from Windy City Watch Collector. I found that I really liked the look, but the size was a bit small for me. The Vantage is a larger case and I would probably like the way it fit, but the Zeno will give you an excellent read on whether or not the style suits you. You'll also not be shelling out several hundreds of dollars and run the risk of not liking it. Whereas the Zeno is a hundred bucks and if you don't like it then you got off cheap.
