I am with you WIll. I saw a Dreadnought FS on TZ just 2 weeks ago or so and was interested but then saw the price tag @ $2300... NO WAY! I'll leave it to others who care to spend that kinda of cash for it. I'll stick to other Fricker case beauties that are more affordable... now if one of you nice fellas wanted to buy me one for Xmas, I wouldn't say NO ;)

Will, these have steadily shot up in value due o the exclusivity of the piece. Eddie Platts puts together very nice watches and the Dread is thought by many to be his best. You see these selling for just north of 2k on the forums. The Dread is a true grail for many due to its robust spec, place in horological history and its exclusivity.

Be aware that "in-house" movement on the Alpina is a reworked (by Selitta) 6498 so not truly a manufacture movement.

Mark, I checked and checked: All I find about this Alpina regulator manufacture is that it's a 100% inhouse. Don't confuse them version with other movements reworked.

The caliber AL950 is 100% inhouse: Look here down page

And here where it was selling at the price I told earlyer and never been hooked:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250694747553&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_740wt_1137

My bad. You are correct sir. I thought you were referencing the regulator like mine which is a handcranker.

I like the look of this beast!!

No problem!
I know that you have one: That's what putted me on the trail when I saw this one...
What made me look back to it is that is was mentioned as "Manufacture" in all listings over the net...
