Hi guys,
I don't know if you've seen this, but a lot of snakes and reptiles are really suffering for those leather straps! In the future, I will think about getting a fancy strap:

(it is in german but the message should be clear)

It's in Sumatra: I'm not surprised. Are you?
Those animals are not killed in an American reptile farm: It's in Sumatra.
They was shrinking heads like never before when tourists started to buy this as souvenirs some years ago, until autorities puted an end to it and now they smoke babies...subtlelaugh.gif

I will leave this thread as long as it does not turn political or personal...please keep it civil and on topic of watches....thankyou.gif

...I will tell you a story of a beautiful copperhead strap I had made here in the states and sent to Ralf in Germany as a gift that was confiscated  by Customs for being an endangered species...now where do you think that poor strap ended up?

The all thing is resumed by the fact that the farming and slaughtering laws applied in industrialised countries are not the same as in other poor countries. Since the product is legal for importation, no country can force another one to apply them own laws about farming and slaughtering: They can just threaten to do not buy an animal product if the animals are not processed as they want. Nothing else.
Since there is apparently a blind and unconditional demand for those skins: Places like Sumatra and others will allways produce skins by them own ways.
Don't forget that in many countries, animals are rarely treated with empathy as humans see themself as predators on the top of the food-chain.
The funny thing is that many people who will be shocked by a reportage like that, will let them cat playing with a mouse during a half-hour before it miserably dies... Because they think it's natural or just prefer to turn them head.

Well, I will not stop wearing leather shoes or exotic boots, stop eating beef, chicken and pork nor will I be joining the crew of Whale Wars and PETA will never get a time from me. I don't think I'll have a problem buying a strap for my watch.
