I have a green bezel Swiss Hanowa sealander on a black rubber strap that I like to use as a tool watch from time to time; However, a few weeks ago when I tried to set the time due to time change for day light savings time, I pulled the crown out as usual but it never stopped, instead, it broke off and fell on the floor. I have located the crown but now I am at a loss on how to get this fixed. I know how to remove the back case and how to release the post but does anyone know where I can purchase a new stem/crown? Thanks, Tim.![]()

Knowing what type of movement you have inside would be of great help... I'm a bit confused: Did the crown fall off, letting the stem peeking out the case or did the stem and crown pop-off the case together? Or did they went both off separatly and you lost the stem? Stems for different movements are selling all over the net: Here's an exemple among many on the bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Part-401-Winding-Stem-ETA-2836-2-2824-2-2801-2-Movement-/400153642637?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2b04068d

Thanks for your assistance! No, the crown broke off the stem leaving a partial stem still in the watch and the crown has a very small part of the stem still attached. The movement is a Swiss precision quartz movement RL 5030D. Thanks for the help again!! Cheers, Tim.

Ok, I see... It can happen for exemple, if the movement isn't presented correctly in front of the little tube where the crown get screwed, or if the tube isn't perfectly aligned with the case. So the stem comes out a bit wrong on the side of the tube, then the crown will slightly bend the stem each time you screw it in , as the crown forces automatically the stem in the middle of the tube when screwed on it... After a while: The stem breaks/snaps because this kind of hardened steal can't bend so much and it's thread weaken it even more. Your watch should be open to release the broken stem from the movement. The other stem part should also be taken out of the crown by unscrewing it(you may need to warm the crown to melt some loctite there...) Then, get sure that the movement is well placed and will present the new stem in the middle of the tube... Hopefully, your tube is right. I personnaly saw my watch-maker doing it for a 2824-2. Good luck
