There seems to be Interest in Invictas Again even after all the Posts about their Terrible CS and On Air BS of Eyal and those Hawking them So What Alternative Brands are Out there that can be Reccomended in this Price Range that are a Better Buy in the Eyes of our Members Personally..I have found that Seiko and the Russian Models, especially the Poljot Line offer a Much Better Value for the $$ as Well as a Better Watch in Most if Not all Instances...Any Others Come to Mind ![]()

I will just say, buy the seller and not the watch. Seikos Monsters never beat them at least I have not so far. Russian are my next area of intrest, I have never had a Russian product of any kind that was not easy to service, and held up well. With Swatch controling the large part of the market. Russians will be a good bet for the future. Once in a blue moon Croton produces one I like, they have great CS. IWI Marine Diver 2824 is good deal I think. The list goes on and on. here is a cool swiss army mechanical $135 NOS http://watchseller.com/swisarsc15co.html The link to IWI Marine Diver 2824 was $275 http://www.internationalwatchman.com/home.html Last edited on Mon May 8th, 2006 01:44 pm by e.avery |

Got a mechanical Aviator chrono on order from Tom at PacifiChrono... waiting on it from the Moscow warehouse... $385 with ss bracelet and exhibition back. Seiko is a worldbeater in this price range for automatics. Some Orients have got me aroused... but haven't pulled the trigger on any of them --- yet...

Seikos, Citizen and the like rule this market segment if you're talking about automatics. Heck you can by Ti Samurais all day from Higuchi-san for under $300. I believe the Seiko Spirit is in that ballpark, too (Grand Seiko look on a beer budget at ~$260): ![]() (pic courtesy of Knight Watchman at WUS) I've got a 200m Orient diver that I love, but the Ti Aviator "Slide Rule" watch that I bought felt/looked cheap, so I sold it. On the dive watch front, St. Moritz makes some impressive stuff if you don't mind quartz. Some of the Tissot autos can be had around that price, too. Then there is Poljot/Buran/Stuhrmanskie. Junkers, too. There are lots of options, they just take a little more work than bopping over to *NBC.com......... Last edited on Mon May 8th, 2006 06:20 pm by peepshow |
