Can someone tell me something about Accutron watches? I know only what I've read - i.e., that they are the high end Bulova watch line, but are they quality timepieces that compare to say, Tissot or Hamilton?  I like some of their new designs like Gemini or Excursion, but I'd like to know if anyone hear has experience of them. Thanks.

IMHO they are very nice watches.

They are only branded Accutron for the US market.

You can find the identical pieces (for the most part) with Bulova on the dial in the European (and Canadian) market.

It's due to the American familiarization with the Accutron name from back in the day when Bulova was a true American Co. and the wild popularity of the "original" Accutron quartz tuning fork movement.

Now just about any Bulova product marketed for the US market  over $400.00 bears the Accutron label - quartz OR automatic.

The orinigal Accutrons used a tuning fork not quartz at all. The logo on the dial is a stylized tuning fork. The current Accutrons are just trying to take advantage of the past glory of the line. My two Hummers both are 218's and are still extremely accurate.

I have a Gemini V-7750 chrono and it is a very nice watch, especially at the price you can get it for. I'd say that quality wise it's very comparable to the new Hamiltons, maybe a notch nicer, IMHO.

Here are the two Accutron models I like best. The Gemini is a little out of my price range but the Excursions are quite reasonable. Which one do you like better - the blue dial 26B67 or the black dial chrono 26B65?

Nice looking Accutron. The problem with buying watches online is that every PC monitor is different. So you can never tell what the true color of a dial is before actually seeing it. I contacted a seller about the blue dial Accutron Excursion and he said it is more of a dark denim color than the intense, rich blue pictured above.  If that is the case, I do not like denim blue of any shade and that alone would be enough for me to choose the black chrono, which I have personally seen in a local jewelry store and which is actually very striking.  That is just me. I will not dish out several hundred bucks for a watch unless I love everything about it - including the dial color and color shade!!!

It would be interesting to know what this one costs because it is a dead ringer for the Tissot Seastar 1000
