All my watches have black dials, including the Black Monster and Traser H3 I recently received.  I am itching to buy a Seiko Samurai and cannot decide between black again or the white dial. I like the black but the bezel edge is also black while the white has a SS edge which I prefer in a dive watch. Is it possible to have that black edge removed in favor of a simple SS edge???
Any thoughts about what Sumarai owners bought and why? And most important, what do you think of the Samurai in general?  Thanks.

Note the black edge on the bezel here:

I didn't care the black dial. Too much black for me with bezel edge being black. So, I ordered a silver bezel and had it installed. This is what it looked like before I traded it. The watches are great. I ultimately decided to sell or trade mine because I wanted to be able to wind the watch by hand.

I don't own one but recently I have seen one of our member's Sammis and I was very impressed with the watch. It was the white dial and that is the one which appeals to me most. JMHO.

I like the way that looks. Where did you order a silver bezel for the black dial and who did the work for you? What did it all cost?  Thanks!!

I too recommend the Ti version over the SS.  I have had every normal Samurai, SS black, SS white, Ti black, Ti blue, Ti orange.  I now only have the Orange.  The Ti version has several superior features:

1) The dial indices are fully lumed in the ti, ss are half lumed.
2) The hands on the ti are twice as thick as the ss
3) The second hand on the ti is the seiko "meatball", vs the thin arrow tipped hand on the ss (I hate arrow hands)
4) Bezel numbers on the ti are in 10's, the ss is in 5's - 10's just seem more natural to me
5) The Ti version has crown guards, the ss one doesn't

The black ti is SBDA001

The model numbers for the Ti version with black dial are  SBDA001J  or SBDA001. Mine is with J (Japan) and the price is a bit higher.

I think they're about $40 at http://www.chronograph.com.

Thanks guys. Nando-Ferdz I loved your photos - thanks for sending them.  I emailed Higuchi-san and he replied very quickly and said the Ti Samurai Black dial is available for 31,000 Yen or $256.00 shipped - is that a good price? Sounds it to me!

Ken got the right place for the bezel. But his price is a little low. I paid $78.00 for the bezel with shipping. :)
