I was just surfing about online looking at sites that have listed Breitling watches for sale. And landed on their homepage too and saw the warning. Has anyone here tested the waters with buying a breitling online? It is I guess the lowest priced of my grail watches and again it is teasing me and tempting me. Has been for about 5 years now or more. :) Like I really need a reason to buy a watch but coming up on being in the house for 8 years here in 3 weeks and figure what better than another gift to self. LOL :D Year 6 I snagged myself a 37" LCD TV. But a Breitling is on my mind again. But also thinking allot about Enzo, Doxa and Ocean7 hehehehe :dude: But dose anyone here have any online Breitling buying experience to shed some light on how safe or not safe that may be?

That's the main reason I decided to get mine from The Diamond Cellar, my local A.D. I may have paid a couple hundred more, but I got an extra year of warrenty and a guarantee of authenticity. And I have to say that I really like my SuperOcean very much. Attachment: Breitling 1 003.JPG (Downloaded 48 times)

LOL that is the one that has my eye. Yea I think I will do the same when ready. Just as I have decided for with getting a Rolex when the time is right. For they are nice but then for the price I can score so many other nice watches too. :dude: It was the Colt for awhile but now the Super Ocean if I were to get one any time soon. There is a good reputable A.D. about 60 miles South of here. ;)

I think Breitling is one I would go to an A.D. for if buying new. I also like the Superocean and hope to grab one this year. I might go used so that rules out the A.D. But if I was buying new, I would find my neares A.D. JMHO!!

Most companies have such a disclaimer these days to protect themselves if an innocent customer purchased a knock-off somewhere believing it's the real deal and decides to go after the manufacturer of the original watch. Also, manufacturers don't like gray market; the reseller in which region the watch gets sold (who makes a few $$$ selling it) is supposed to support the customer and frankly, if he doesn't sell the watch and has made no $$ in that sale, his motivation in supporting the watch and that customer is zero or less. The end result is a dissatified customer and a tarnished reputation for the manufacturer. Having said that, some of the sales tactics of watch manufacturers are actually to blame for this. Certain Swiss brands are known to enforce quotas on their resellers; if they don't sell enough watches, they loose authorization and the watch line. Or they only give access to higher end models if a certain number of lower end models get sold. Consequently, those dealers look for ways to move volume, even if that means selling to gray market dealers. Either way, if you do your homework and buy from a reputable dealer who does provide a warranty (manufacturers warranty might not kick in when buying from an unauthorized reseller) you should be fine. I have purchased this beauty from Ashford, not an authorized reseller but well known. Cheers Matt ![]()
