Hi Steve

I guess the question is whether the administrators want to a.  control the sale of 3T "special watches" ( and it looks like we are talking specifically about Orsa here...) to only active members; b.  control (to a certain extent) the manner and time that inactive members resell their watches into the general marketplace to preserve values and prevent a "fire sale"; or c.  secure a discount from the manufacturer for 3T members who have been "loyal" and who deserve a bit of a discount - while those too slow or off the forum have to pay retail. But then again - Berg keeps selling everything he can make, so it is a bit academic! And good on him, I say. Beautiful watches...

IMHO there are good reasons for all of those goals - and I hope everyone's best interests are met. I'm a newbie. I enjoy the participation, and I simply look forward to the time that my words turn into actions and I can get my hands on some more of the fabulous watches that members have accumulated on the site here.

Thats an enviable collection you have there Steve - I have a while to go before I catch up!

And while you guys wake up - I am off home now for a rest at the end of the working day.

Good talking to you - Cheers - IanM

May the worst bit of your future be as good as the best bit of your past.

Boy am I mixed over this one. The design and homage is either a love hate to me and I waffle from one to the other...

Is 07 in the business of making homage watches??

I don't feel any of the other Ocean7 watches are homage. They use off the shelf cases that others have used before so a few of the watches look similar to to others so some call them homage. Others may see it different than me though.

Mitch has always said that the 'inspiration' for the start of Ocean7 with the LM-1LE was the "PloProf"; as can be seen in the use of the plongeur dial and hands but with a unique case (not off -the-shelf,  'mold' was destroyed after production run).   The LM-7 is a return to his original inspiration - with some twists.  I look forward to getting one of these on my wrist as well.  ;)

I couldn't remember if the LM-1 was an original mold or not. I was thinking it was inspired by something else but you just reminded me that it indeed was inspired by the PloProf and I do remember he stated the molds were destroyed.

I just checked the pre-order thread and Mitch has locked me in for #47 - to match my LM-1LE and LM-2 serial numbers... hand6.gif
