I find the design of the case and bracelete very nice and unique, but pay $500.00 and up for a case and bracelete is an absurd. Many Renato watch use the G10 movement which is made out of synthetic material and it can't be serviced, it is as ETA told me in an Email "a cheap movement that can't be serviced". I spoke with Renato CEO yesterday and during our conversation he told me that he didn't know the movement can't be serviced. Now, if he told me the truth I find it to be unbelievable that this guy doesn't know that. I asked him this question: How would you feel if you spent $500.00 in a watch and a few months later it needs repair, and the watchmaker say that the only way to fix the watch is by changing the whole movement because it can't be serviced? He said: I want to challenge you - buy my watch first, try it on then you tell me what you think. I said: I don't have to try your watch, it is what it is a junk, because of the movement you put inside of the case. He also told me that one of his customers who own Rolex, Breitling, Patek Philippe, Omega and many other well known brands, also own about 20 Renatos, and he asked what I thought about that. I said: Just because you own many expensive watches doesn't mean that you know what you're doing. I can tell you this, he is buying your watches because of the looks not because of the quality. When it comes to movement quality your watches don't have any in my opinion. Many people out there think that just because the movement says "Swiss Made" the movement is the best in the world, and that's not the truth in my opinion. ETA makes great movements, but they also make cheap movements. ETA is the biggest watch movement maker in the world, and they also make very good movements, but they do not make the best movements in the world. Anyway, $500.00 for a quartz watch with a movement that cost $10.00 or less is out of my list. I like the case, bracelete, but I don't buy watches only because of the looks, the movement beating inside of the case is much more important to me than the looks. (Yeah Ken, I know, I talk too much smile8.gif, go ahead say something)

Hammy, you are dead-on on this one!  We strongly believe that this made-for-tv brand, which uses Daniel Mink as its "figurehead", is actually an Invicta operation puppeted by Invicta.  Yes, many of the models are nice looking, but the attitude toward the customer is exactly that of EL!

...and you just keep on talking, 'cause it is great to hear from you!

Ditto. what Oscar said. Hamilton, very good to hear from you again. You have been a mentor on the boards to many of us, myself included.

Hamilton's point regarding the cheapo movments is well taken, but beyond that I find the Renato styling cheezy and over the top. IMO, they are cheap, ugly watches. I fiind it amusing they always want you to bring the watch to a jeweler and ask them what they think it is worth and that the owners come up with the crazy stories of folks offering them $$ for their watch!!
