The Zeno aeropland divers and based on the Mondia design. Don't have a Mondia, but I believe them to be excellent watches ol' Bill Bartlett had one!! the Zeno gets you the look without the heavy price of admission but doesn' have quite the repute as a Mondia. ![]()

It is more likely an OEM manufacturer makes them for both companies.

Well, I may have an answer, as i wanted to buy the Mondia before i got the Zeno. The Mondia has no apparent dealers in N. America, prices are in Euros. If you go to the Italian ebay website (ebay.it) you can find one seller - a dealer of sorts - which sells the Mondia at about USD 500 - I offered the equivalent EUR 375 and he accepted. The problem is the shipping. It's at least EUR 40 to N. America (that's more than USD 60). The Mondia also comes in a box with three additional straps, inclusing a leather and a strap tool. In fact in Europe, the Zeno is about USD 70 - 100 cheaper - essentially the cost of straps. There is a spcial version of this watch, Marina Militare MMT 500, which cost double the Zeno. It is a LE officially tested by the Italian Navy (which made military diving watches famous in the 1940's with the raids on British ships using special 'open water' submarine/torpedoes "maiali" - designed by Teseo Tesei, whose name has also been borrowed for a Locman group watch). On the german ebay, there are two new versions of the Zeno Airplane diver: 1. Automatic chrono - EUR 799 2. GMT - EUR 499 I Suspect thse models will become more widely available, and perhaps IW can get a hold of them. They are only rated at 200 mt. water resistance, but I doubt that many of us will be concerned about the time, when diving into the Mariannas fault.

Thanks for the info, I am kinda on the fence right now over purchasing a Zeno Airplane. If funding works out, I may do so. I just wondered if they look better in person than in pix. Thanks, Tim

Well, it seems a little expensive, considering you can get the same watch for much less (this seller has two versions, black dial and white dial): http://cgi.ebay.it/OROLOGIO-MONDIA-ZENITH-SUB-YELLOW-AUTOMATICO-PROFI-NEW_W0QQitemZ170041092960QQihZ007QQcategoryZ9263QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
