Hey guys, I just got this Poljot Aviatior from IW (thanks Marc!) with 3603 movement. It's my first mechanical. I've only had it for a day, my first full wind lasted about 18 hours. Is that about normal? or should I expect longer? Also, the second hand ticking seems pretty loud.... louder than all my other watches, is that normal too? ![]()

I don't have this model but quite few member here do so they will be able to give you first hand comments. The ticking is normal... its part of the charm of a handcrankier!! 18 hours doesn't seem like a full winding to me. Are you sure you wound it up completely?

Hi Jrock I have this watch. Got it directly from Frank in Russia when they first came out. Great watch. It is a workhorse in my small collection. I believe it has a Molnia pocket watch movement. Thats why the BIG TICK. I like that about this watch. Lets you know its RUNNING. Im extra careful winding my watches so I dont know if its ever been cranked FULLY. Ill give it 30 cranks and its good for at least 30 hrs. ENJOY the new watch and wear it in good health. Billy S. ![]() Last edited on Wed Nov 21st, 2007 10:12 am by Billy S. |

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes, I was winding until I felt resistance and can't wind anymore. So on the first wind... lasted 18 hours, and also looks like it stopped for about an hour and started again. Second wind.... 25 hours and still running and time is accurate. So good sign so far, I guess the first wind just needed to get some "rust" off. I'm getting used to the loud TICK , but it makes it hard to hide it from the wife when it's beating so loudly.... or maybe that's just my conscience after buying 3 watches in about a month..... ![]() ![]()

Hi Jason - 18 hours is certainly out of the norm. You should get 40 to 45 on a full wind. A full wind is accomplished when there is alot of resistance, like if you went further something will snap. Lets see how she goes for the next few days. These are all existing pocket watch movements with slow beats and large balance wheels, thus the loud tick. I suggest winding it daily for a few days, then see how long it lasts. It may need high spring torque to overcome some lube spreading - and if you let it wind down to 30 hours or so, it loses most torque though it may still keep time. Let me know! Thanks- Marc jrock325 wrote: Hey guys, I just got this Poljot Aviatior from IW (thanks Marc!) with 3603 movement. It's my first mechanical. Thanks Marc, will do. So far so good, I'm at about 32+ hours on the second wind. I think you're right, it probably just needed to spread the lube the first time around.

I have the exact same model. I've owned a number of the Poljot's with this movement. 30 good cranks should wind it totally (as said earlier). Some of mine were a bit stiff at first. 40 to 45 hours is a good run time. The Poljot 3105 movement runs up to another 20 hours but it isn't very pretty (like the Molijna).
