I have a 38mm automatic coming from Octo. It features the hand-winding ETA 2846. Anything I should be worried about? ![]()

Octo is a company that went out of business in the 70's due to the quartz revolution....so what you have there is reproduction.....the eta 2836 is a automatic and although it can be wound it is not referred to as a handwinding movement.......My understanding is that these new ones surfacing are out of Asia using the Asian eta.;) At $129. it is a good buy and a great looking watch if you are into vintage styles and a smaller case much like the Mido Commander....Enjoy and let us know what you think when you get ithand6.gif

I guess for the price you can't go wrong. Hopefully the new movement will hold up for a good while. Nice looking watch though.

What is an Asian ETA? Is it an ETA copy, or an ETA built in Asia? 2. Why wouldn't an ETA 2836 be considered a handwinding movement even though it hand winds? 3. Is a reproduction considered a fake? Can the quality of this timepiece be confirmed in any way?
