Widely discussed before, Orient is an independent watch company with their own design staff, manufacturing facilities and proprietary movements.  The major share owner, however, is Epson, the printer division of Seiko, with a 52% ownership stake in Orient.  While Seiko does not mange, run or manufacture Orient watches, I am certain that their quality standards heavily influence its operation.  By right of majority ownership, they do have the ability to take it over should they ever want to.
