On the heels of an unusual day for weather, including sticky hot fog, intense lightning and thunder storms, and sporatic hail, the clouds parted finally and revealed their silver lining...

...in the form of this torture-tested Orsa Sea Angler that I purchased from Mike here on the T3 forums.

This is the watch that first attracted me to this forum.  Oscar's now famous pictures of it really made me wonder if this whole watch thing might be something I would get into.  I scoured the internet looking for as much info as I could find about Orsa, and in particular the legendary "Silver Surfer" version on the fabulous Sea Angler automatic diver.

But despite all this searching, it seemed that I was always late when one of these rare beauties would go on the block.  But now I finally have mine -- #9 out of 50.  I am priveleged to join this exclusive group of WIS, and will wear my Silver Surfer proudly!

Now enough talk.  Here are some pix that prove that she shimmers even on a gray day.

Hot, hot, hot.

The problem with low production numbers on a certain model, not everyone can have one.  Also what makes you feel great when you can get one.

Good job.

Rhett that sure is one fine looking Surfer and you got #9 that's pretty kewl.. Enjoy it's an awesome watch......yourock.gif

Well what a great day to tell a 3T story:

Let me tell you a little story about Oscar's Surfer #12.  You see in those pix's, that Surfer was sold to me back in Oct-07. It went around the world to Ted Su on 12/07, who lives in Taiwan, for model of straps for 3 months .  1/07 Antfarm (Tony) inquires about it, I tell him it's his when I get it back from Ted Su, 3 months later I get it and tell Tony I'm just going to shine it up for you, I screwed up the bezel with the dremel.  The only way to fix the bezel was to order a new case because the bezel is attached to the case.  The Surfer got lost in South Carolina after it got the mov/orig case-back put into the new case.  On May 20, 08 Tony sent me a PM he got the Surfer.  For 5 months Tony never once complained or sweated I mean not once "Teddy what's going on", that 3T bro has more patience than anybody I ever seen.

The story ends with a happy ending.  The Surfer is still with a 3T mem (AntFarm) and....When the bezel got screwed up there was a 3T Brother to the rescue to make sure the Surfer was fixed right. O.....I will not forget......thankyou.gif

Rhett a big Concrat's to your new Silver Surfer.

Congrats on the Silver Surfer.  My story isn't that fro off from yours.  When I joined 3T back in Oct the Silver Surfer was in the header pic and I fell in love with it.  I think the colors on it are awesome. Best looking SA IMHO. (I'm sure this could be contested, but that's just MO.)  I finally had the opportunity to buy #12 and jumped.  It was a long wait but well worth it.  Again congrats and enjoy!!

Thanks for sharing those stories, guys.

Teddy, I'm sure you remember when I PM'd you to ask if you would consider selling me yours (yeah, I guess my watch-lust got the better of my sense of etiquette). :P

When you wrote back that you were waiting for another T3er who had first dibs, it was all I could do not to put out a hit on that guy. :)  It's funny to hear about the crazy route it took to finally reach Antfarm.  I would say that all things considered, things have worked out the way they ought to.  The infamous #12 is back in great shape and in the hands of a T3er who will appreciate it, and I'm fortunate enough to have quenched my Sea Angler craving as well.

The Silver Surfer is going to be my last acquisition for a while (how many times have I told my wife that!) since it really was my biggest crush.  Hopefully it will be enough to keep me from thinking about Stowas or others until my bank account has recovered from the last 4 months. subtlelaugh.gif
