Been havin' a hankering for Russians which I took care of by getting two Ruskies at fantastic deals. Both arrived this afternoon!yourock.gif

First up courtesy of my friend and yours, Hucky, is a Poljot Dolphin Alarm.

Poljot 2612 Movement
Mechanical lever movement
Manual winding of watch and alarm mainsprings

45mm   10 atm water resistant  screw down crown
Movement diameter: 26 mm
Movement height: 5.8 mm
18 jewels
Functions: hours, minutes and seconds, alarm signal
Shock protection
Frequency: 18000 vph
Daily rate from –20 to +40 s/day

Couldn't resist especially with such a cute dolphin on the caseback.:D Seems solid and kind of phunky. We'll see if I use the alarm... This one has made the rounds but it just might stick here. I was gonna immediately swap out the strap but I kind of like the notched ends on this one and it feels kinda nice too...

Q&D's:

Second up is a Vostok Amfibia.

  • Automatic / self-winding mechanism
  • Central second hand
  • Vostok, Calibre 2416B, 31ruby jewels
  • Totally wound watch runs not less than 31 hours
  • Shock resistance balance
  • Water resistant up to 20 atm
  • Date calendar
  • Luminous hands und markers
  • Solid stainless steel case
  • Diameter 41 mm
  • Hight 12,5 mm
  • Stainless steel screw-down back
  • Screwed-in crown
  •

I always thought these were cool looking Ruskies but never bit... that is until I saw this minty Amfibia pop up on a sales forum. I was unsure how the build on this would be but as it turns out the watch is solid and tight with smooth operating crowns. I may just get this one wet! Feels tight as a drum and the case is a very unique bi-level cushion with alternating brushed and polished areas. Wears larger than it's 41mm.  Just enough orange on the dial to satisfy. Cool internal rotating bezel set by the second crown at 9:00.  It comes on a neat singed rubber strap with deployant. All in all a nifty watch with a unique sort of retro look. Pretty sweet imho!Thumbsup3.gif

    Q&D's:

Thanks for having a look and enjoy the long weekend!Bouncy.gif

Great "catch" Pax. ThumbsUp02.gif I have been eyeing an Amphibia for a while.  You will have to let me know how you like it after a while.  Also, if you ever decide to get rid of it let me know.;)

Thanks 3T buds!. The Dolphin has been around indeed, O! The Amfibia is actually turning out to be a bit of a pleasant surprise although the cheap ass hands might drive me batty!:P

    Sweet, congrats Pax! hand6.gifhand6.gif
Poljot alarms are cool, I use mine to get attention at my monthly IT projects meeting.  I don't like meetings to go over an hour, so I set it to go off when the the meeting should end.  Scared the heck out of the committee the first time it went off.  Then I had a hundred questions about it, WIS heaven :D

I can't tell you how many times I have had my finger on the trigger for that exact Amfibia.  Really cool look and I love Vostoks for their tank like quality.  When I bought my Amphibian 1967 it literally came down to a coin toss between the two!

    Cheers,
    Griff

Wow, that Vostok is really cool. I like it's overall 'look'. You're right...just enough orange.

I see what you mean about the hands, but they seem alright. What kind of hands would you ideally put on?
